Essential shop supplies

Almost 5 years ago, I purchased a new house, the one I’m living in now. However, we only moved a bunch of stuff into it in 3 different events, the last of which was about a year ago when we finally occupied the house full time. I have not gotten my shop set up yet and am beginning to do so. I know most of my consumables are at least 4 years old. Which got me to thinking, I need to go on a shopping spree and buy a bunch of consumables.

What essential shop supplies do you keep?

Brake clean is a big one for me. I use it for cleaning so much. I usually buy a case at a time from OReilly's.

Hand Cleaner, White & Blue paper towels, Shop Rags, Whatever you like for oil spills (Cat Litter Type Stuff) misc lubes, also if you use latex gloves those since they go bad after awhile

I just assumed everyone had tons of hand cleaner.... I wash my hands alot.

Every year for Christmas, my kids buy me red shop towels and those round terrycloth wax pads, enough to last a year. My wife thinks its stupid, but it something that I want and will use. Oh, and Johnnnie Walker Black label scotch!

My kids buy me white V neck tee shirts for working on cars and mechanicals and my wife thought it was silly too, but now she understands why I like them. All the same, don't care if they get destroyed as I'll just throw them out and it's cheap (I don't like my kids spending money on me, I'd rather have them save it), but the best part is I don't have to pick a shirt.... they are all the same. I do have pullovers and dress shirts, but when I'm working around the house or cars, I like a cotton white tee shirt for comfort and sweat absorption.

I got lazy, I have 3 Fusions with 2.5L engines. All use the same filter and oil, FL-910S and Motorcraft (6 Quarts) 5w-20. 2-350 Chevelles, PF-25 (yes available online at Walmart), (5 Quarts)10w-40. Then I have 4 vehicles that have to have "special" oil and filters. The Excursion 4 gallons of Delo 5W-40. Mercedes Mobil 1 0w40 (7 Qts). Durango (5 quarts), 10w-30. Vibe, 5w-30 (4 Quarts).

All of the Fords use Mercon LV. The Dodge, Vibe and Mercedes are special. An older flavor of Dextron for the Chevelles.

Liquid dish soap mixed with Tide powdered clothes detergent for hand cleaner. Takes off everything!

My wife buys dish rags at Walmart once a week. 18 pack for $3.00 I think.

When the wife gets a new washer and drier set and if they are still working, ill put the old ones in the shop and wash the old rags instead of throwing them away.

375gal tote for used oil.

Probably not everyone's idea of essential shop supplies, but I have a rubbermaid bucket and mop setup.

I like the floor clean so oil and grease aren't tracked everywhere.
