1967 Chevelle SS Values Currently (August 2022)

Yeah, the car is nice, but it's a build to spec car, and from a catalog. They lose their soul going that route. I dig the floor clock however, that rocks.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the floor clock at all, but it doesn't bother me nearly as much as the top of dash clocks found in the '64s & '65s.

I just looked through the pics of this car & noticed right away it has a repop speedometer reading 1899 miles. The gauges in the cluster are also repops. Plus those door panels aren't high quality...they're the cheaper puffy versions. The exhaust system is not made by Gardner, which you would expect on a build like this, & uses aftermarket turbo mufflers which are the wrong length.

Don't get me wrong, this car is gorgeous & I know I'm nitpicking, but for $135K, this car should have zero issues, nor cheaper repop parts in lieu of quality GM originals...plus it should have the highest quality reproductions for pieces like the door panels & the exhaust. I know the odds of you buying this car are slim, but I just wanted to put this out there.

Thanks for your input Pete. Yes, it's too much for my needs, especially since I already have my '67 L78 engine. A friend (on here) also pointed out the pad is a restamp. I thought the Tonawanda stamp looked legit, but I suppose the VIN stamp could be "off". There's really no way of knowing the specs of the engine either, which sort of smells! A car restored as nice as this one should have every spec clearly presented, including the engine build, trans, diff, exhaust system, all upgrades, replaced parts (not original), etc. That's what I would do if it was my car.

It's a shame you didn't really start posting about looking for a '67 until a year or two ago. I sold the car in my avatar to a guy in Montana about 14 years ago & he contacted me to resell it for him as he was ready to move on at the end of 2018. 42,000 original mile Malibu that I built into an almost indistinguishable SS Tribute. That would've been the perfect car to upgrade with your L-78 block. Bench seat, 396, HD Muncie M-20 4 speed....he threw a Dana S-60 rear in it. Sigh....

I like everything but the Foose inspired paint job.

This is more what I'm looking for (from Mecum Spring 2022 Auction):

Bench seat black interior, rear antenna, true 138 1967 Chevelle. It sold very reasonably as I recall...may have been under $50k even, if over not by much (of course there's a 10% buyers fee on top of the sale price). This car looked very solid to me!

The car appears to bepretty damned straight. A fresh coat of paint won't hurt. Agree on the console, it's eff'd up.

You'd rather have a bench seat ? You could downgrade a bucket seat interior and pocket $1500.
Are you stuck on a 138 Kansas City built car ?

I had a bench and I loved it....my clone will have a bench if at all possible. They can be hard to find these days. It doesn’t have to be but my block assembly date at Tonawanda is dated June 9, ‘67 and it has a KC stamp so I prefer a KC car yes...June or July ‘67 build. Numbers won’t match but it would be period correct. If I found a nice roller with a trim tag with E-E paint code I’d be interested in that regardless of plant or build date. I have many options but the car just needs to be “right” you know? I’m in no hurry anyway.

How about this one? I already contacted the dealer...dreaming I know. It appears to be legit. I already corrected the seller on some things in the ad and the photos. He sent me a pic of the trim tag and it looks legit...07C ATL build

BTW, had discussions with a well known '67 L78 Chevelle expert and that block is a restamp, not the original block based on reading through the original owner's remarks (letter). This one is apparently a fraud...explains why I never heard back after I asked several questions. Buyer beware still holds!
