I have ordered 90% of the sheetmetal i need for my 71. Core Support will not ship until May of 22 but Still waiting on most items.
I will be doing this by myself so ot will take me years before its road ready. I will be asking a bunch of questions so stay tuned. I will start a thread once all metal gets here.

Have you looked for a preowned core support? Original stuff is 1000 times better than the reproduction stuff being made.

Where did you order from? Just curious...

I have 2 72's. One of them is using all of its original sheet metal except for the roof panel package tray and rear deck filler. When the body work was done it was amazing how nicely everything matched. (thanks to http://www.midatlanticmusclecar.com/)

My other 72 has had rear 1/4s in the past, the fit around the doors is not as nice (I partially blame the body shop that did it). Look for original stuff if at all possible and if needed use after market patch panels.

If you are rotted around the rear glass, there are patches available for this, I believe Beldin is the company.

Correction from post above. I have core support coming, the cowl under windshield is the backordered part from OPGI

Original order was with Original Parts Group. A door arrived damaged so it was sent back and i am waiting for the replacement.
5 parts were backordered from OPGI so i cancelled those parts and ordered from National Parts Depot which has everything in stock except the cowl under windshield. NPD parts arrive today.
So far I have complete body bushings, a new front fender, door, SS hood, trunk pans, floor pans, a pillars, trunk torsion assembly, trunk filler and some other bracketry. This will get me started but next will be addressing the window channels.

I like to do things myself, but it takes skill to push-pull, split and weld panels to get the gaps right.
If you live near me, the guy who did mine did it for $50 hour and took 8 months; about $17k.
That's not including two new quarters ($5000) that someone else did first.
It's hard to find people like him. Regular shops don't want to touch work like this.
He works for the city and this is how he supplements his income. And he's very good.

I am going to do this myself on a budget. I would love to farm it out but I an afraid I would have more in it than its worth. Not that I will be selling it but its an econo 6 cyl model Chevelle and not an SS.
It will test my abilities but i have confidence in myself, as long as I dont burn myself out and keep focused I should be fine. Y'all will be helping me because I will be asking questions. I expect this to take me years becuse I will only have a few hours in the evenings and weekends.

NPD had my parts to me in less than 24 hours from ordering.

I have my SPI epoxy primer so i guess i need to DA everything and get it coated for the long haul before i do any mounting and mocking up. That was my plan but I am open to suggestions.

Sounds like a great plan ! And the depth of knowledge on here is tremendous.
I think the guy who did mine epoxy-primered everything at the start.

Last year there was free truck freight shipping on black Friday at OPGI.
I need some large panels to finish My sheetmetal work.
Hopefully I can get the free truck freight shipping again this year. I have my list, just waiting to see what happens.
Hopefull one day I can drive this sucker, one day at a time as they say.
