    Chevelle project update

Jeez, I thought this was a metaphor until I realized an actual wheel fell off. Glad you weren't hurt & the car is ok.

I think you've confused the Eagles with Lynard Skynard.

Muncie M-20 Questions: How to install speedo and reverse gears on the Extension Casing?

Yes, you need to align the z-bar with the pivot ball in the block, then loosely bolt it to the frame bracket so you can mark its location to weld it in place. It will basically locate itself as it's contoured to the curve of the frame. Just use a magnet or a c-clamp to hold it until you tack...

Muncie M-20 Questions: How to install speedo and reverse gears on the Extension Casing?

Crossmember is the same for auto's & manuals for all 64-67 Chevelles. The biggest issue with the swap is the aftermarket parts like the z-bar & the upper pushrod. Unless they've improved the repops, which I highly doubt, you might have clearance issues. You'll also need to either find...

Muncie M-20 Questions: How to install speedo and reverse gears on the Extension Casing?

NO! Do not use any gasket maker or RTV. There should be a gasket there....not sure where you heard there isn't one. You'll need to buy a gasket set. When I build Muncies, I don't use any RTV/Right Stuff, etc. They didn't have any of that stuff when they were built by GM, either. If the...

Problem with new repro glove box bezel

Hard to say in today's world, but when I had my pieces redone, the cost of the plating was basically the same price as the comparable repop part.

Problem with new repro glove box bezel

There used to be a few people rechroming plastic parts, but both places I used are out of business. I had all 3 of dash pieces for my first '67 redone & they all came out great....way better than the repoprs, but that was 15-20 years ago. I'll do some research & see if I find anyone doing this...

Muncie M-20 Questions: How to install speedo and reverse gears on the Extension Casing?

Sorry I just found this thread. I've rebuilt several Muncie's & they are really easy to work on once you get past the trepidation of cracking one open. Paul Cangiolosi's book is very helpful. He also has some great videos on his website. Or Gearboxvideo on youtube. If you haven't tackled...

12k Mile SS 396 Survivor @ Corvette & Muscle Car Nationals

Love your plans for it, John. I'm not a fan of the bright red or the automatic either. Word to the wise, if you plan to buy a new Hurst comp plus set up, you'd be miles ahead if you acquired it from Paul Cangialosi @ 5speeds.com. The new Hursts are all made in china & the tolerances are so...

Congrats!!! Glad the search is finally over. I'm in Connecticut if you ever assistance with work & you don't trust anyone local. Keep me in mind. My VW gets 45 MPG so I don't mind road trips.

    Classic car insurance

Missed this thread, but I've used Alex LaRue for the past 15 years. Not only are his rates great, but he's a car guy like we are, plus he's just an extremely down to earth gentleman. Alex is a broker so he'll shop around for you to find the best deal & also understands the classic car...
