Gas Tank Sending Unit

I've been having problems getting the gauge in my wagon to work. It's a new sender & I've tried everything, but the gauge won't most past empty. Sender ohms out correctly & the gauge pegs Full when I disconnect the brown wire, but still won't read correctly with gas in the tank. Next move is another new sender.

The sender I replaced was older but little used as the car was under repair for 12 years. When I fill it I will compare it to my other 72 with an original sending unit.

I filled her up on Sunday, needle went to FULL. Funny how 2 cars can read a bit different. My bronze 72 will peg over full but when she hits E she is out. The Gold 72 goes right to the full line, will probably have fuel in it when on E.

They only have to be slightly off and they will give different readings. I've bent a few trying to get them to be more accurate, but gave up.
