It is clear that almost everything we use in the USA is coming in on ships from you know where. It is also clear that if we do not address this in a matter of days vs a matter of years we will fail as a viable country on the globe and likely be reduced to an "Also Ran" in the anals of history.
How will you personally address this crisis?

Wal-Mart. Made in America :)

Remember that slogan? It went away when they realized importing Chinese junk makes more money. The USA lost so much manufacturing it will take years to rebuild and train workers.

Taxing Chinese Imports at a higher rate will increase manufacturing but again, we do not have the infrastructure anymore and building materials are imported too.

I buy US made a/c parts when there's an option and these parts do cost more and I pass that on to the customer but when a customer complains or says "So & So company does that xx cheaper" I explain the quality difference and I won't be back anytime soon charging you to replace that failed part and also give them the option for the chinatown part, IIRC only 1 customer has done that, a lot of USA made parts also say in fine print "With Global Material" that's my 2nd choice US part to buy and stock on my service van, younger generations have been raised in a society that everything is disposable, instead of getting a TV repaired just toss it out and Wally World is right around the corner with a Chink TV ON SALE NOW, Washing machine broke and the repairman wants $250 to fix it? Toss it out and guess who's right around the corner?...I use to buy Zenith or Curtis Mathis TV's because that's what my Gparents bought, USA made whatever I needed but now I don't think there is a US mfg TV, how to change all this would be stop buying Chinatown stuff, Big $$$ making Corps aren't going to let that happen unless someone like Pres Trump put the Hurt on them, JMHO

I bought a washing machine, repairman said it was going to be alot of $$$ but didn't really estimate. I was sort of stuck, take the washer to my garage, disassemble, wait for parts, reassemble, move it back into the house , meanwhile wife is not happy clothes are backing up, teenage daughter can't find something to wear. I said screw it and bough another, was delivered in 2 days. Wife was happy.

Happy wife, happy life.

We are so far down the rabbit hole with our economy dependent upon imports, not the least of which is oil. It’s going to take war to catalyze change. I hate it.

There are many glaring points in this post. Global Corporations seek the highest possible profit with no thought whatever to a sovereign strong USA. One day they will have their souls on the chopping block just like the rest of us. We are fast approaching an awakening here in the US and over the entire world for that matter. China and Russia are looking out for China and Russia and we'd be better served if we kept our store in order before it is boarded up forever.

I'm also happy with some products from the Great White North our friends in Canada so maybe made in North America? This is just one product that came in the mail minutes ago X3 boxes, I'm happy buying things mfg there also, I dont agree with the Lib politics there though soo...?

I don't remember how many years ago but I would have Never told someone to buy anything from Mexico but now I tell people "Well I'd rather buy something made in Mexico than China" again JMHO, some a/c mfg is in Mexico but better parts & quality control than some of the junk coming from China IMO

It’s hard to imagine Mexican labor as more expensive than Chinese. Enough so that it’s cheaper to ship from China?

I've bought some things off of Ebay they were only a couple $ for whatever, came all the way from China.

Covid has turned this world upside down there is more hatred out there than ever before. Our so called leaders are screwing things up big time not only in our own country but throughout the world. In this country a lot of things that are being changed are caused by the Democrats Hatred Of Trump. How many things did Trump do that made America Great Again, Energy Efficient, a more secure border, etc, etc. Now because of this hatred the "Idiot" in the WH is reversing all these policies and bringing us back to the stone age with no consideration of how this is affecting Americans. We are depending on China for too much. Sure there's a lot of things we can get away from buying from China but then there are other things that are "Life and Death" things such as medications. You hear we have to get away from relying on China for things like this but that's all it is, is talk. This country has to get away from all these policies to spend our money on foolish things, beating a dead horse to death by continuing ways to keep Trump in the limelight so they can kill his chances of running and winning again like Jan.6th and other things they tried to ruin him with while he was in office. Wake up America before it's to late.

Keeping Trump in the limelight is the only way they can continue to propagate hate, that and what they call racial injustice or equality / equity.

Pathetic to keep drudging up the past and not looking forward to the future. We learn from our mistakes and move forward, but liberals want to focus on the past as an excuse to change America's values fundamentally.
