I dunno, is this forum just limited to people?

Sad day for us maritime history geeks and fans of the golden era of Atlantic crossings - liner SS United States is headed to Mobile to become an artificial reef. Private interests have tried to save it for decades but there is a reason even governments give up on old ships eventually.

United States set the record for the fastest Atlantic crossing on her maiden voyage in 1952 and has held it ever since.
