Gene Hackman dead at 95

Uncommon Valor gets me every time, his performance and the story. It was very much a movie of its era, and there are multiple places in it that still choke me up. Corny maybe, but its AMERICANS trying to help AMERICANS when ome else will. Not a huge Patrick Swayze fan, the the scene were they mock and beat him down for not quitting, then find out that the father that he never met may be among the soldiers that they are going to rescue. He was a young Marine, and Marines NEVER quit, they succeed or they die trying.

Never saw it.
Hackman is a General or other Officer coordinating retrieving a downed pilot deep in Russia....can’t think of the pilot’s name but he has blond hair and a bit if a crooked nose (well known actor). It’s an “edge of your seat” kinda movie!

French connection was a hackman masterpiece. i love watching it and seeing new york city back when it was gruff and who can forget mr lex luthor the greatest criminal mind of all time? Miss testmacher"

The pilot was actually downed in Bosnia. The actor is Owen Wilson.

The upstairs bar scene from Mississippi Burning is classic Gene Hackman.

People like Gene are a gift to humanity. And what a great age we live in that works like his are preserved For the future.

This is really good !

And a great interview on Letterman. He had just finished shooting "Hoosiers".
What struck me about Gene was his humility. He has worked menial jobs and he doesn't think he's better than others.
A true gem of a guy.
