Has anybody put in with 2 pumps, a hand pump & submersible? Haven't talked to the well guys about it yet.

I'm putting in a second well for irrigation, but also as a backup in case my main pump craps out. Our place is 46 feet above sea level, so we don't have too far to go.

My current well was drilled to 165 feet. casing was hammered to 130 feet, and my pump is at 65 feet.

I've already done a test for drilling (I'm doing it myself), and at 25 feet down I hit limerock and was able to push it down 5 feet in 30 minutes into the limerock. My intention is to get the casing down to 100 feet (where I know good water bearing sand is) and then push 40 feet of sand filter pipe and set my well pump at 70 feet. The pump I intend on buying is a Grunfos and can be run directly by solar, battery, or 110v/220v and costs about 2k.

My well is 525' deep and I get 14 gallons per minute. I am going to measure the casing today and see exactly what cap I need. According to the specs water is 35' below the top and that is calculated into the size SimplePump pipes needed.
