1986 242 Formula. I have redone all of the cabin upholstery. I also swapped in a 300hp 350 MAG MPI. I boat on lake Huron and believe me, it has the waves to go with its size. This thing is a wave crusher. I had a couple sea Rays before this and they would pound your teeth out in the rough stuff.

Around here Outboards are more popular, I guess because we are a couple of hours from the coast. I have an I/O, I like it better because my little 4.3L is easily accessible and easy to work on.

Am I right in thinking that I/O are more prevalent on the Great Lakes?

Yes, around my area. I'm starting to see more OBs. There is a pontoon running around here with twin 350 mercs.

I have had Outboards, I just find them so proprietary with parts, IMO being able to buy over the counter stuff (I know some must be marine grade) is an advantage.

Welcome Al! Man I can't imagine a pontoon with that kind of horsepower. We have a 40 horse on ours, and that seems plenty for a pontoon, but I guess the more the better right?
