He stopped using drugs late in life, so that's better than nothing.
It's just a shame that he damaged himself so badly. He hurt a lot of people depending on him.

Kevin beat me to it! I didn’t get on here fast enough.....reading through replies on Truth Social! Brian definitely had his admirers! He was definitely a song writing genius!.....I put him right up there with John Lennon!
Those of us in my generation will remember Brian and both of his deceased brothers (Dennis & Karl) for the great music they made along with The Beach Boys.
There will NEVER be a “sound” like The Beach Boys again!

I was never a huge fan of the Beach Boys but their music has definitely stood the test of time.
Bet you never knew he made a rap album. Here is one of the songs. He actually hated it, as his therapist manipulated him into doing it.

A bit ot, but couldn't help myself. All things 50s, 60s, and early 70s just fascinate me. Note the pass. side front bumper and it's alignment.....I've learned this is a very common problem, and some may recall my trials getting that side to fit correctly. Now I know. Also......the house Brian lived in Beverly Hlls hasn't changed a bit from the outside, and of course the desert hasn't easy.
My favorite 45 record (which I still have) is "I Get Around" with "Don't Worry Baby" on the flip side! AWESOME songs!

I never really cared for the beach vibe music of Beach Boys or Jimmy Buffet (seen him in the 70's at Mad Beach Bar) just never cared for that music But they were a great band doing what they did and loved doing, I read his cousin Mike Love sued him or maybe management over song writing credits? Shame when family gets to the point of sueing another family member
I'm a big fan of the beach Boys and I have Mike Love's audio book , which is a history of them from his point of view.
The band had a lot of trouble with drugs and alcohol like most bands. Brian Wilson was a basket case who Mike tried to save him from himself, but failed.
Brian had a psychiatrist and his wife who ran his life and made decisions for him. The people advising Brian tried to cut Mike Love out of the money he was owed from writing lyrics.
Brian was the musical genius but Mike wrote a lot of the lyrics.

I wasn't a fan of Buffet....his music was NOTHING like the Beach Boys (apples vs. oranges imo). We "older folks" just warmly remember the Beach Boys "Sound" because when they came on the radio we all "listened" with smiles on our faces! Their sound was iconic! A different sound altogether, but the English Bands in the 60's were awesome as well (The Beatles, Dave Clark Five, Chad & Jeremy, The Kinks, The Who, and many others....but NOBODY's sound was like the Beach Boys...of course I grew up near the beach in Florida (white sand like nowhere else....not so much surfing though...LOL!)

My parents retirement community has a coffee shop and I found it funny they were playing 60s and 70s music, changed from the 50's stuff (what my kids refer to as car show music).
