Planning a LONG RV Trip

Dumped $158 of diesel in the tank last night. Food and clothes are going in, we are going to vacuum and clean the inside of the camper tonight. Tomorrow is hookup day and final mechanical checks. We are on track for an early Sat AM departure.

The temps are going to drive me crazy for tire pressures. Supposed to be 95 here on Friday but as we go North West I will have to adjust because of cooler temps.

Set the pressure early when it cool & don't worry about it & have a safe trip & thank God you are getting out of that heat.:)

That is the plan. Since we are leaving early Sat morning I hope to be in the WV mountains before it gets to hot. Saturday is a long (600 mile), hard pull day, the Appalachians are no joke when towing, Fancy Gap on I-77 in NC is a 6 mile pull, but it is not that bad unlike some of the other NC mountains.

Tomorrow Morning, West Bound and Down.

Slight hiccup with the Excursion yesterday, A/C wasn't working properly. Joe Wiedholz, owner of Goldston Automotive in Goldston, NC is a good friend and even though he was closed today to work at the Fire Department's Chicken plate fundraiser, he took the time to check it, replace the orifice and evac and recharge the system.

600 miles tomorrow, hot temperatures in the East, snow in Colorado. go figure. Yes, I have a snow brush in the camper.

Midwest has been cold & wet so far, we had a pretty nice early April day today.
Have fun & stay safe.

Take your time and be safe, and most of all, enjoy the time with Lisa and your daughter. Make it a memory to last forever.

Have a blast! We expect to see pictures.

Well it was a long drive today but we are in Nashville, Indiana at a KOA. We came through a storm as soon as we crossed the Ohio into Indiana, it was blowing so hard we pulled into a parking lot to wait it out. We got to yhe Koa and the power was out, it is on now.
West Virginia wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and a pretty drive. Kentucky on I-64 is a boring ride.
The Excursion did great, the a/c is not 100% at 85 degrees and up, cool not cold.
No pics yet, this was an interstate day. Tomorrow we head to Des Moines. 5 states down.

I am going to come in to Des Moines on a US hwy, time to get off the interstates. KY roads were rough. We had a door shelf come loose in the fridge and a dining chair fall over, the chair was a first. I was suprised Indiana i65 was so smooth, I have heard stories about their highways.

If a shelf in the fridge came loose and a chair tipped over I can only imagine how rough the ride was. If you have basic tools with you, can you drive a screw into the top of shelf support to stop the shelf from jumping up?

Not too bad, just don't want to here the story of the fridge door coming open. I've seen it a couple times, not pretty when the potato salad lid comes off.

I'm thinking "the long long trailer"....Ball//Arnez working their trailer up the Lewiston Hill with rocks in the cupboards....don't do that! Thanx for taking us along.

We are in Des Moines, IA and the roads in Iowa suck! Bounced us all over the place. We did get off of the Interstate and on to US highways, I never knew Iowa was so hilly! The crosswinds across Illinois were strong but manageable.

No big RV issues, the major one was the kitchen drawer opened and when opening a slide at a rest area I did not see it and the facia on the slide came off. Out came the tools and it was back together in no time. Excursion is doing great.

Expecting frost tonight here, at home it is 90 degrees.

Tomorrow we head into Nebraska to a State Park for the night. Been a long couple of driving days, almost $600 in fuel so far.
