Life Insurance

So one of my life insurance policies is expiring and me just being who I am wanted to make sure Lisa has more than enough money to drop me in the ground and have a party when I'm pushing up daisies, so I opted to get another policy. Here's where it got fun..... The insurance company sent the stuff to their paramedical company who in turn called me to set up an appointment in December 2025 to come out to my house and do the normal blood and urine tests. We set the appointment, the day comes, and they are a no show. No call, no nothing. A couple days later I get a call from the company apologizing that the person who was supposed to come out had a family emergency. I understand, shit happens. They set another appointment, the day comes, and I get a text 45 minutes before they can't make it.... family emergency. Okay, odd, but shit happens. I get a call the same day with them apologizing again and wanting to setup another appointment. This time I tell them they will do it on my schedule because I've already changed my schedule for them twice..... they agreed. So we agree on an appointment for 7am on January 6th. Day comes, no call no show. Now I'm pissed. Call my insurance guy and tell him to drop the application and I'll shop elsewhere. That sets off a chain of apologies from him, the paramedical company, and finally the insurance company asking for me to give them another chance. I let them stew for a couple of days. I call them back after they'd left a number of messages telling them I'll give them just one more chance and the Florida director for the company says they will not fail this time, but I say now the test will be set in my timeline, not theirs. So I tell them I'm up at 4am and they can come at 5:30am to do their test. They agree. I get a call and text the day before to remind me, and finally the lady who's driving 1.5 hours to get here at 5:30am and it's their lead person. She says she'll leave earlier to make sure she's there and on time and I tell her if she shows up early, it's fine, I'm already up. Next morning I'm up at 4am, and at 4:45am the lady shows up, does her thing taking blood and urine samples, asks her questions, and she's gone by 5:15am. Then I get a text at 5:30am from the Florida director saying she can't get ahold of the lady who came and I told her she'd already came and left and her phone is probably shut off or in quiet mode. She thanks me and texts about an hour later that everything is good and my stuff was turned in and would be sent in by noon. Good. Yesterday UPS shows up and I figure Lisa ordered something and step out to meet the UPS guy and he has an envelope with my name on it.... hmmm, I didn't order anything. I bring it inside and hand it to Lisa and she asks what it is I tell her I have no idea but she can open it in case it's from one of my admirers who wants to poison me, she laughs, opens the large envelope and pulls out a letter and a Visa gift card for $100. The letter is an apology from the Florida director apologizing for all their screwups and she wanted to thank me for giving them one more chance and the $100 gift card was her little thank you. Cool. Gave it to Lisa to spend on whatever.

Welp, my results came in today, and you guessed it, I'm healthy and I'm going to live for at least a few more days.

This keeps my insurance coverage at a little over half million. When I was younger I had insurance policies totaling 3.5 million, but I'm older and she doesn't need that much anymore, just enough to buy a new husband. 😁

I wasn't going to, but when Lisa called around to get more quotes, everyone else was double the cost, so I figured I'd give them one more chance.

Glad everything worked out 👍👍🙂

Back in 2008 I was all set for an in-home exam for life insurance, and the night before we had our infamous house fire, so I totally forgot about my appointment. I believe the woman who came was quite surprised at what she saw that day! :ROFLMAO: I was forgiven for not cancelling that appointment. A year+ later I had the appointment again and all went well, however the lapse in time meant my premiums were higher (by a lot!). So it goes. I still say things were simpler 15 to 20 years ago, regardless of the situation. Happy New Year everyone!
