Running movie and TV thread.

Sounds interesting. Prime Video?

Reminds me of the book On The Beach that kids had to read in middle school.

What about TV series ; regular shows ? I have a few that are excellent

1) NCIS
2) NCIS Origins - this is good , covers the early career of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon)

These next three are really good and new

3) Will Trent - a Georgia Bureau of Investigation detective working in Atlanta - based on a book series
4) RJ Decker - an ex-con who was wrongfully sent to prison for 18 months and is now a private detective in Ft Lauderdale
5) High Potential - a lady with a genius level intellect works as a consultant for the LA Police department

I watched a cpl High Potential but didn't care for it, I haven't watched the others but I'll check them out

We have a pretty nice movie theater nearby with 1 or 2 Imax that we go to some times, a little expensive for drinks & snacks but at the end of the day worth it for a good movie, Oh and we figured out Dont park in the $10 parking garage

I'm in! Can't remember the last movie I visited in a theatre, probably Maverick, LOL. I hear it did well, and pissed off a bunch of people I like to piss off.
Maverick was the last movie I've seen in a theater too. I do watch some newly released movies with my son (pay tv).
I miss Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson !

Saw that for the 40th anniversary of Top Gun, both Top Gun and Maverick would be back in the theater again this summer for 1 week.

Saw Project Hail Mary tonight. Very enjoyable.

The new Michael Jackson biopic sounds like a hit. It seems like the critics are review bombing it but audiences love it. I’ll probably see it. I’ve heard that the major criticism is that it avoids the pedophilia controversy and paints a glowing picture of Michael’s legacy. But somehow has suggested that would be addressed in a sequel.
I guess the actor who portrays Michael is one of his relatives and reportedly does a great job.

I watched "Bogonia" on Netflix last night, not too bad if you like SciFi, well the scifi part was more at the end, actually a pretty good movie, I think the end could've been a little more Techy or teche, techno?

I was never a big MJ fan but I do admire his talent.
And I'm sick of people harping about the pedo thing ; he was gay and disturbed but there is no evidence he laid hands on any of these kids.
He did put himself in situations that weren't wise.
Has there been one kid he was around who later said he molested them ? I don't think a single person has accused him.

Kinda of fun….. Siskel and Evert reviewing classic movies.

Loved Midnight Run. A Dirty Hairy Movie, Midnight Run and Die Hard opening in one week. Not bad.

TLDR - Siskel and Ebert gave a split decision on two of the greatest action movies of all time.

KHANNNNNN!

Two thumbs up for The Karate Kid

And Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The critics can get fucked; the Michael Jackson movie was great. Michael is played by Jermaine’s son and he did a great job. The recreated concert video was pure top notch.

My daughter who is 13 and wife who isn’t much of a fan both loved it too. Unless you carry a bad impression of Jackson, you’ll likely like it. Movie ends abruptly at the “Bad” tour so there’s definitely a sequel coming.

Anyone watch the old HBO series East Bound and Down? It’s hilarious. It’s only 4 season with only about 6 episodes per season. It’s about a former MLB pitcher played by Danny McBride who’s trying to deal with losing his MLB career. It’s adult humor. One of the funniest shows I’ve ever watched. Highly recommended.
AI says it’s available on Hulu currently.
