Running movie and TV thread.

I watched "Little Brother" last night with John Cena and Michelle Monahan? Might have spelled her name wrong but pretty funny

Jerry Reed defined "cool." I miss him ; used to see him around Vanderbilt football games.
He was great in Smokey and the Bandit, Gator and Waterboy. There were others but I can't remember

My best friend from 72 till his passing 10 yrs ago got to drink a few beers with Jerry Reed and a 3' tall trophy after winning the 1st or 2nd Tampa Bay Ugly Truck contest, following year winners won a new Ford truck, he said Jerry Reed was a really cool guy to hang out, I don't remember how long he got to hang out with him, that was either late 70's or early 80's

Anyone try a vSeeBox to bypass all the subscriptions? You can buy them on eBay, and stream all the different services without paying for it. Not sure how they can sell them legally, but it's pretty slick for now until they get shut down.

Never heard of it. Not sure how that would work. I imagine it would be shut down quickly. Too many people making big $$$ on streaming to allow someone to steal a bit of their profit.

That box relies heavily on third party services, and may be a security risk to your network. The apps that they use to allow you to stream movies for free are pretty much illegal. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

The supergirl movie is fixin’ to drop and projections are bomb-city. To copy Marvel Studios “MCU”, this is the second movie in DC Comics “DCU” after Superman from last year that underperformed. Instead of making Supergirl a “good girl” aspirational type, sounds like they’ve chosen to make her more of a “party girl” I guess to appeal to young people who aspire to be degenerates. She looks hung over in some of the images I’ve seen.

True to form the lead actress has been out attacking men and especially “Christian Dads” especially. So fuck her. I can’t see why these movies studios are willing to throw millions of dollars at some easily replaceable, “mid” actress and not put in a contract “avoid politics and don’t attack your core audience before the movie.” But at least I know where she stands so I can choose to support her movie or not support her movie. The victimhood some of these assholes wear on their sleeves is bizarre as hell. Complete alternative universe stuff.

First week projections are abysmal. It’ll make the recent Star Wars bomb look like a massive hit.

Supergirl is a confirmed bomb. Here are some people goofing on it.

Saw Young George Washington. Surprisingly my 18 yo daughter wanted to see it. We both really liked it. Highly recommended.

Also saw the Odyssey. Usually I like historical epics (or in this case mythological epics). And I’m a fan of Matt Damon and have become a fan of Anne Hathaway.
Movie was alright. It was long and slow at times. There were things that took you out of the movie a bit and made it seem low effort by director Christopher Nolan. Modernish language, American accents and a lot of diversity casting. Maybe there were a lot of white people and black people in Ancient Greece (but probably not). I shit you not, there was an Indian guy and an Asian guy featured prominently. But no Greeks at all. Black Helen of Troy had a small part but no one is buying her as the most beautiful woman in the world. Elliot Page was also silly, but again a very small part of the movie. It seemed quite obvious that they filmed Elliot in such a way as to not be near other actors because it would look ridiculous how small she/he was.
I paid money to see if and knew I was investing 3 hours which I rarely give to movies or TV. So I wanted to see it. Even putting aside the things I found off putting, it was 6/10.

I always watch this and DiNozzo's back !
I record everything on YouTubeTV and watch it when it's convienent.

Gibbs is coming out of retirement! In news that should excite NCIS fans worldwide, prequel series NCIS: Origins is welcoming back former
star Mark Harmon as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in a full-time capacity for Season 3 — and he'll be appearing in every episode, expanding upon
his usual role as narrator. While we'll have to wait a bit to find out how Harmon fits into the creative plan on NCIS: Origins, we do know it

involves a season-long, present-day mystery that ties back to Gibbs' early career at Camp Pendleton. It's fair to assume flashbacks and
flash-forwards will be at play.

And don't forget "Tracker" Season 4 this sunday

Netflix Stock Drops on HSBC Downgrade, Citing YouTube Threat

Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) shares fell about 2% Tuesday after HSBC lowered its view on the streaming company, pointing to growing
competition from YouTube and weaker signs of viewer engagement, according to a Tuesday analyst note.

The analyst said YouTube is capturing more television viewing while Netflix faces challenges keeping its original programming
compelling to audiences. YouTube is also expanding its appeal to creators through financial incentives and marketing support,
potentially making the competition for exclusive content more difficult.

What’s the best basic cable or satellite replacement right now?
I don’t watch a lot of TV so $$ is a main factor. And I want to be able to access the service from both homes.

I want generic basic cable type channels. ESPN, Food Network, TLC, Discovery, Bravo etc. No premium channels.

Because I’m lazy and happy with the service, I’ve kept DIRECTV but it’s getting a little pricy for how little I watch. $124 for a really strip down package. I know they now offer streaming service but when I price it out, the saving was not great.

Any opinions? Thanks

I know some of you last watched TV on one of these

Yep... I don't watch it at all..... Lisa does though. She watches on a 70" and I bought her a Roku. I pay for streaming FriendlyTV and that's it. All she watches is on there (mostly Great American Family, and reruns of a few shows like Hunter and whatever).

Hunter was great. A show that I loved and you very rarely see available on streaming is Simon and Simon. If anyone stumbles over it, let me know.
