Gabriel Hijackers VS Monroe Max Air

I just replaced the lines on my Gabriel Hijackers a couple of weeks ago, but the shocks are sagging again (which means that the air bag in the shocks themselves is worn out). No one carries the Gabriel shocks locally anymore.
I was never fond of the Monroe air shocks, mainly because the fitting sticks out perpendicular to the shock body (the Gabriel fitting points downward 90° from the shock body). Has anyone used the Monroe shocks on their Chevelle?? The other good thing about the Gabriel version is that the air bag is completely shielded, where the Monroe air bag is exposed. If anyone has used the Monroe shocks, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The only air shocks I ever used were Gabriel's, but I haven't used them in more than 30 years. Are you using them for load levelers or for ride?

I use them to get the stance I want. They have not caused any problems in the upper mounting area (the car has had air shocks since the early 70s).

Okay, last time I had an issue with that (stance / ride height) I ended up going to coil over shocks. I used to have issues with the Gabriel air lines breaking or losing air at the fittings.

You may find the coil over shocks to be better for you. The last ones I bought were adjustable and they did give a great ride (vs the air shocks), and they were cheaper than air shocks.

The coil over are more expensive and are not adjustable. If I had the money, I would just put the Viking double adjustable coil overs on it, but they are a lot of money. I just need to get the air shocks replaced.

I put new heavy load springs in the rear of my Chevelle when I put the rebuilt 12 bolt in it, rides like new, like my half ton pick up LOL  I'll chang'em one day

I had a pair of air shocks in the rear of my four door. Pumped them up hard and used to drive over the rail road tracks. It would toss the people in the back seat...loved it

I had no idea such things even existed. I suppose they have the same theoretical risk as air shocks in that you are putting extra stress on the shock mount?

I suppose it would add stress to the shock mounts. Last time I used a pair was on my service body truck, but it was only for helping to level it out. Had so many tools that even with the heaviest leaf springs she'd still sag a bit.

Or.... These fit inside your coil springs and can be adjusted by amount of air pressure.

No thanks. I do not want those obnoxious red bags visible underneath my car. If they made them in black (like they should), then I might consider it.

Fair enough, I have them but can't see them from the driver seat and they serve a very useful purpose. I use them with Viking crusader shocks as well.

The only way that I can see my Red Air Bags is if the Car is up on a Lift with the Suspension Hanging Down
or maybe if I am laying on my Back on the Ground under the Car looking up at them

The red bags popped in my springs when I installed them in a car years ago.
Did you over inflate them? I've used them for years without issue. They did aid in getting my rear end to be useful when launching my car.

I had a car I was towing with, I think the weight of the hitch and car AND the inflation caused them to pop. I was using them for leveling.

I have inflators with jounce bumpers on my Excursion, they have worked perfectly.
