Great cover bands

Went to see "Killer Queen" at the Danville casino last night. Nobody can sing like Freddie Mercury could. It was a good light show and he got better and better as the show led on leading to Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions for the encores.

As far as I can tell this is just some random guy who sounds more like Vince Neil than Vince Neil does. With Tommy Lee on drums and John 5 on guitar. This guy needs to replace Vince. 🥺

Wish we had a decent Beatles cover band around Nashville.
"I'll Be Back" was supposed to be part of a Hard Days Night but was cut out.
I love this song and it was never released !

Imagine being in Jacksonville Florida in the late 60s & early 70s and seeing 2 great cover bands at the same place a couple nights a week. The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Dad went to the same High School as most of the members of Skynyrd, Robert E. Lee HS in Jacksonville, but just a few years before Ronnie Van Zant started there.

Imagine fishing with Ronnie van Zant while the band jammed and he listened.
When he heard a riff he liked, he would ask them to keep playing it as he wrote words in his head.

The legendary "Hell House" was the birthplace of Southern rock's greatest anthems. Located on a secluded farm
in Green Cove Springs, Florida (just south of Jacksonville), this tiny, tin-roofed shack earned its infamous nickname
because it had no air conditioning.
To escape noise complaints in the city, the band would drive out to the cabin every single morning at sunrise.
While the rest of the band jammed inside the sweltering shack, lead singer Ronnie Van Zant would famously sit
on the fishing dock along Peter's Creek. He would cast a line, hook some fish, and write the lyrics to their iconic
songs from the dock while listening to the music drift out across the water.

I’ve been a huge Skynyrd fan since the early 70s. Spent my paper route profits on their vinyl, which I still have. Went to see the Rossington Collin’s band and could have polished Allen’s tennis shoes as I was at the stage.also went to the reunion tour in 87, although without Ronnie it wasn’t the same. Johnny looked like a deer in headlights on stage.
When my wife came to live here, she found a huge sealed bag in my closet. Every concert I’ve ever been to I bought a tee shirt, never wore or washed any of them as that wasn’t what I dressed like. They’re still all sealed up in the top of the closet all these years later although she really has her eyes set on my Stones tee shirt from the mid 80s. lol

In April 74, Skynyrd came to Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. I was a sophmore and had never heard of them.
At the end of the concert (our gym wasn't air conditioned) they threw open the doors.
Syknyrd was jamming and doing their finale , which now I know as Freebird.
I remember Allen Collins because of his long blond hair and he was super skinny and he was jamming away .
Never knew what johnny looked like until videos came out about 10 years ago.
They are my favorite band.
My favorite line : "oak tree you're in my way." :)

They are my favorite as well. My playlist starts with every song they did and moves into other southern rock bands like Molly Hatchet, with whom I spent quite a memorable evening hanging out with the band.

Listening to the top 40 Skynyrd is good, but listening to full albums, their stuff that's never heard over the airwaves, is where it's at.
I thought they pulled their name from a school teacher, or a combination of teachers????

Their gym teacher/basketball coach was named Leonard Skinner
