Eastwood Contour SCT (Surface Conditioning Tool)

Maybe it's been asked, but what do those abrasive drums cost? If they clog up quick, and you end up using 20 of them to strip a car, what's the final cost?

Depends on the drum you select (I bought 3 different others), but the main drum I've been using is the Abrasive Drum 40 Grit and I'm sure it must be wearing, but on the smooth surfaces I've been doing (body panels) I've done probably 50 square feet of space and it doesn't look like the drum has gotten any smaller. I'd say based on that you could do a number of panels with just 1 drum.

That's expensive, but since time is money, it's really not.

That's why I like it. I did a test on 1 square foot area (front fender of the GTO convertible clone) and it stripped it quick in 3 minutes.

I was impressed to say the least and the metal wasn't overly hot (not warping hot), but you could put your hand on it and it didn't burn.

Don't worry about the quality of Eastwood vs HF both are the same china junk. I've had a few Eastwood tools fail but I can get a HF one the same day if it happens to one of them, I like Limburger cheese.

Everything is made in china. I bought a Bendpak lift last year because it's an American company only to find out on a sticker when I was assembling it said: "Engineered by Bendpak, Made in China". Pissed me off. I won't buy another lift from them now.

Saw that in the store recently. I wonder if they use drums that will work on other brands.
If so that’s good for the people who bought the Eastwood version.

I can't speak if the consumables would fit the eastwood version (or the durability), but I'm impressed at how well the stripping drum has held up and at the current rate (if taken care of and not abused) that is the most expensive drum but it lasts. I've already used it to strip quite a bit and I can confirm the drum lasts a long while. I've stripped probably 30 sq ft with the drum (all body panels) and I can't see any wear to the drum.
