Vinyl top discoloration

I purchased this last week from my buddy; who owned it 50 years. The top was done back in 1995 along with the paint and rest of the work. He has evidently never noticed the lines in it lol. Ive been painting for 30 years, and see them. I thought maybe someone used a 4 inch roller and put some protectant on there? I see overlap stuff in painting all the time. Or maybe its part of the top install process like glue under it was rolled that way and its somehow effecting the sheen through it?
All ive done is rake some cleaner/degreaser to a part of it to see if i can knock down the sheen, to determine if its top coat product. It remained unaffected. Otherwise i would have stripped the top coat and started over. No dice.
I also bought a product to use to seal it and the dash etc. So 2 questions.
1. Anyone seen this striping before, and how to combat this.
2. Is this a good prouduct for a final, on vinyl.
New to the group, figured i would pop my cherry this way. Ive got lots of other questions but wanted to break the ice. I tried some Facebook groups, but they are all overun by bots it seems.
Take care,

303 is good stuff. My top is tan so fading is not as obvious. The PITA is the top is rough so wiping stuff off is tough and you don't want anything that could streak down on the paint.
How about this?

Duragloss 301 Automotive Tonneau Cover and Vinyl Convertible Dressing, 8 oz., 1 Pack

Never used 303 but worked at Chevrolet a long time ago and I saw a lot of the black & dark blue tops that looked just like that. The other colors (lighter) weren’t as noticeable.
