Some of you may know that I now run a set of 2.56 gears in the Nova. While it's a blast to drive the posi unit has been less than stellar in this 12 bolt. The 1st set of 2.56's were noisy and the posi was real chattery on slow turns and really bad on slow reverse. My one good friend had the same trouble and couldn't find a fix other than a new posi, so what he did was took the 4 springs that put pressure on the clutch packs and clipped off a ring from each posi spring. He went out to test it after new lube and additive and no more chatter. One guy also on youtube said to not use GL-5 80-90 as it's a problem in older posi units, so I may try that 1st. but dang this posi is the worst I've come across in a long long time.

What lube you running and what posi additive if any? Any idea if you're running the gray springs or the yellow springs???

In the 80's my first wife decided to Help 🙄 me out by taking my 76 T/A to a Jiffy Lube type place for an oil change and they sold her on changing the rear end lube (I had put lube & additive in it myself) many times I told her Stop doing this shit! Well whatever they put in she didn't even make it home, had to have the car towed, surprise to me was they paid to have the posi rebuilt by a shop they used, guess it wasn't their first time fucking up a rearend, I don't remember what gear oil I used since my gearhead friend with a blown 496 4 spd 70 Camaro told me what to buy or what the dumbshit place used but I was surprised the wrong lube would make that much difference

The quick lube in town was supposed to change the oil in a new Subaru but drained the trans fluid (auto) instead. They couldn’t figure out how to refill so they had the woman drive her car to another shop 2 miles away. Now that’s great service. 🤡
