Yikes OCS

but there aren't tons.
there are a few, and they are anomalies.
(again, basing my views on Leeds-built '69s which I have studied far more extensively... not many Baltimore cars in my part of the country)
There are tons of SS cars without the L. Most of them would be clones.

What I am saying, is stating the L equals SS means that any car that appears to be an SS without the L would be a clone. I'm not talking about the three known anomalies. I'm talking every other SS in appearance car.

Also, just because we have three known cars, doesn't mean there aren't others, it's just we haven't found them yet.

But it's not, there are differences in virtually every exterior body panel except the trunk lid and roof panel. There's even variations to the firewall. You see, when you know these cars inside and out, it's fairly simple to seperate the clones, the fakes, the re-bodies, and the real cars. The "L" code is the first thing you go to if void of original block or tranny, or if you're lucky, the paperwork. Granted, the firewall and rear quarters are the only panels that can't be unbolted, so start there.
And you're incorrect in saying there are tons of non "L" code supersports, there just isn't. Now, if a specific car has new rear quarters and firewall, and void of previously mentioned specifics, the value is what it is at that point.
I wouldn't dismiss a non "L" code '69 as a clone SS, but it'd take me a few more minutes to tell.

Every SS that doesn't have an L would be a clone unless it's an anomaly. Are you saying there isn't any clones?

There are tons of clones.

I have a Baltimore with L. I believe is ss. To many signs. But I can’t prove buildsheet, original engine or tranny. Although my car was bought as a parts car before I got it from my uncles who took the rear, tranny, and ss hood back in the early 80s. Just took pictures of part of ss strip on back of fender. Didn’t want to stray to topic but wanted to add.

Can you post more pics of your car? I love looking at projects.

Not important at the time, and being the Z25 option was now available on the 13427 and 13437 cars, I'm glad it went down as it did.

Steelcomp just got banned for sparring with Chris Straub about their new head design. Of course, Mike deleted all but the first post then locked the thread.
Edit: I guess he changed his mind. He restored all the posts in the thread, except for steelcomp, and unlocked it again. 🙄

That's been an interesting feud between Scott and Chris.
For the most part, they seemed to take minor jabs at each other in the past with with no other feedback so it stayed civil. I guess not anymore.

I have bough several items from Chris Straub (Straubtech) and found him always helpful and great products. Scott was always there to help also and though they had issues, I liked Scotts input on heads. Even if it conflicted with Chris'

Don't know if Scott would come over here.

I'm especially looking forward to Chris' 421ci 640hp SBC package as he says '...affordable head and intake package...'.

Maybe we should have Steelcomp join here, maybe I will invite him over, anyone have a problem with that? I like the guy seems pretty knowledgeable.
