Chevelle or Camaro

So I have an opportunity for an off market deal through a friend and it is a tough decision for me. My first muscle car I ever purchased was my 67 Chevelle SS - 396/350 4 speed car NOM. It is a nice driver and I still love the car. Well I would have to sell it to get my buddies car that is a 69 Camaro RS/SS Convertible Auto. Hugger Orange with white hockey stripe, white interior and White top. It is a Numbers car with tons of paperwork and sold new at Madison Chevrolet in Scottsdale AZ. Car also has factory air conditioning . Going from BBC to Small block and 4 speed to auto . I know it’s personal preference . Both cars are nice cars…. What to do ???

Here are the cars

That's a tough call. It's all going to come down to how bad you want the Camaro, but to be honest, I'd look at the value of each for the future.

While both are nice, I look at them as investments and which will bring the most money in. I try to keep cars that will sell for a good amount in case of my demise (kind of like a little insurance policy for my wife).

That being said, you may have a tough time getting used to the power of a SB and find it underpowered compared what you're used to. I'm into the "cruising" stage in my life, so going fast isn't a big deal for me, it's all about the ride.

I have 68 Camaro and a 70 Chevelle and they are both for different reasons. I had a 70 in High School with my now wife and always said I would buy another when the time is right. My current 70 is just that and our youngest daughter (16yrs old) has already claimed it. The 68 is my wifes that I bought her as an anniversary present about 16yrs ago. He father was an 68 Camaro old school drag racer that she grew up doing with him. so that's her sentimental car. Our Son (18yrs old) has claimed that one.

Without my wife, the 68 Camaro would have no meaning to me, but now means so much more.

I don't envy your decision. I think you should swing both.

I've never bought a car in respects to what it would be worth in the future I bought them because I liked them. To me a 67 Chevelle is the nicest looking Chevelle and the 69 Camaro is the nicest looking Camaro. Never had a 67 Chevelle but wished I did, at this point they're out of my reach price wise. Years ago I did own a 67 Corvette Coupe that was matching numbers but that wasn't the reason I bought that car either. After owning that car I never cared to buy anything that was matching numbers again. I did have two different 69 Camaros which were not matching numbers either. At this point in my life the Camaros were nice one of them I owned for 15 yrs. when normally I only own a car for about 5 yrs. before I'm looking for something else. Even though I had the two Camaros I really wished I had bought a 67 Chevelle over the years.69 Camaro.jpg69 Camaro Back.jpg67 Green Vette.jpg

I think a stock smallblock/auto would get old to me. Especially if your Chevelle has a nice warmed up BBC.

I'm still doing sheet metal on mine and all this talk of cruising your big blocks and small blocks cruising down the road have me lusting for the day i can cruise my small block manual Chevelle to join yall. One day fellas
I vote for the Chevelle but i do like that Camaro.

Since I love the '67 Chevelle, I'd personally keep the Chevelle, but see if there was a way to get the Camaro if you really want it.

As much as I am a die hard Cheveller, I'd choose THAT particular Camaro over THAT particular Chevelle.

It comes down to this : will you be satisfied when a Camry hangs with you under full throttle ? I doubt a stock SBC/auto can outrun a Camry.

Or do you need to go fast ? Not everyone does. But I know I do. :)

Haha my BBC Chevelle is pretty stock so I don’t know if it could outrun a lot of newer cars… they just don’t look as cool or sound as good . I bought the Camaro today, but haven’t decided which is going and which is staying yet. Have buddies already trying to buy both,

Well you can't lose no matter which one you sell. I had to keep both - a 67 Chevelle and 68 Camaro. LOL
