How Old Is This Matco Box?

My neighbor was a mechanic at an AMC dealership in the 70's the wrenched for Toyota later. He passed with brain cancer 4 years ago and his wife gave me his lifelong collection of old, well used tools this week. 98 percent is made in the good ol USA. Everything is Snap On, Mac, Matco, Blue Point, Proto etc.
I am curious as how old this Matco 8 drawer lower box is. I can find nothing with the model number. 920A1 online. There are some tools that i have never seen so i might be posting questions out of curiosity.
Can anyone tell me more about the Matco box? I guess 90's but could be way off.

It's a long time ago, but it doesn't any different from the one my boss had in the 80's.

In most cases the first 2 numbers in the serial are the year of mfg. My guess would be 92 but it looks older in my opinion

I agree with Shovelrick, I have not seen a box like that in a loooong time, I'd guess '70's myself. No matter, good stuff lasts.

Went to the Wayback Machine looking at web sites back to 97 but the box did not show up. What is interesting is that back in 97 the part numbers for these boxes were MB8500, MB 7500 MB5500 and MB6500. I would think that MB920 is way back as it is only three digits rather than 4.
I also found that you can contact them with an inquiry here:
They might have some 70 year old in the back who knows all...

Looks like '70 stuff to me. Might be an old Waterloo tool box, Waterloo made boxes for a lot of tool companies back then. Good boxes.
