Do sprinklers help plants not freeze up there? the strawberry growers here will run well water sprinklers all night to keep berries from freezing EDIT I think they do get some type of freeze but they dont get ruined

To a point but a bitter wind has been blowing all day and with the low 20's tonight the plants will be bit. Peach and pear trees are in full bloom, the crops across the state will be ruined. The potatoes and onions we planted last weekend will be fine, they have not sprouted yet.
