Cale's 55 Chevy

Here's a pic of my friends 56 Belair they restored right before my car went into his shop, it has a 70 LT1 350 and T350 but PO put a hyd flat tappet cam in instead of the solid lifter it came with, I guess Danchuk is one of the only repop places for Tri Five parts, I'll ask my friend if he has any parts that fit a 55 that he'd want to part with

Danchuk just closed their doors to retail sales. They kept the manufacturing open and are only selling wholesale now to other dealers.

That really Stinks! Think they'd be Happy mfg'ing parts and getting the parts out to whoever wanted them and retail is the Gravy IMO, EDIT I almost bought a running/driving 57 coupe that needed some work for $6K before I bought my Chevelle but my buddy was buying parts for the 56 and showed me prices , I dropped that idea

The 2 brothers that own it are retiring. I think another vendor is buying the manufacturing line, but didn't want the very expensive CA real estate that the retail sales required.

Makes me wish I kept my fathers `54 back in `88 when my son was 10. :(
Got a deal on a `65 C-10 when he was 13 or 14 and him and his buddy tore it apart then, lost interest in it because, it was a pickup?
Had a chance to buy a `56 when he was 16 for $5K and passed. But. he bought a `76 Camaro instead.
He had the Camaro for about 3 years, sold it and bought a `66 Nova he still has to this day.
He`ll be 43 this year.

Funny how we still think young and our own kids are getting older.

My eldest son will be 39 this year.

My daughter will be 44 in about 3 weeks  Time sure flies, when she was 10 I put together 2 -125 cc Harleys for her, 1 was a 70 Rapido (Italian made Harley) and a 72 Sprint but after my 1st wife and I split up she (wife) gave them away

Other than Chevelles, 55 Chevy has been my dream car. Keep at it. It’ll be badass when it’s done. You’d pretty much have to grease your hair back and roll a pack of smokes up in the sleeve of your t shirt when driving it.

We keep having little problems that delay progress... with the time change, any outdoor work like sandblasting can only be done on weekends when we're home during daylight. I had him all set up to blast the jambs a couple weeks ago, and after about half an hour, the pressure switch on my air compressor quit, and nobody open on weekends had one that I could find locally. Fixed that a few days later, then last weekend he was able to finish sandblasting all the jambs, and the furnace in my garage died, so it's been too cold to spray primer right now while I wait for a new circuit board for the furnace.

Sandblasting uncovered a few more places we need to patch rust, but I really want to get the dash and firewall finished so some re-assembly can begin and we can reduce the piles and boxes of parts laying around.

The furnace is supposed to get fixed today, but we're going to MCACN show this weekend, so we probably won't spray primer until some time next week.

Little speed bumps are good to get him more excited to work on his car and teaches him patience. I wish my Dad had been into cars as I would have done way more than I did.

Great choice on color! The tall pie crusts on the car pictured look fantastic under an uncut quarter, another nice choice. A painted rear wheel with a vintage alum. 5 spoke would also be a great choice. I've entertained the idea of a sanded finish on an old TT wheel, then mix up some dye to replicate a semi-aged magnesium fade.
He's going to have a sweet ride and an education beyond his years.....good going!!
