Have this on my Duramax.

All towing was in the " Tow/ Haul " mode. Not positive of the RPMs at all times while towing,,, BUT for $70.000 dollars this P O S should do better than 9 MPG. This Z-71 Diesel has all the Bells & Whistles but NO MILAGE. Bob
P.S. Between Pittsburgh, Pa. and Chicago ( MCACN ) show........... It is ALL " FLAT " NO hills to go along with NO milage!

Completely agree. Depending on make and model though EPA Diesel restrictions started in 2000 and slowly implemented over the years. Though if allowed, the aftermarket was helping with soot issues through custom tuning. A professionally custom tuned Diesel has very little soot but that was too cost prohibitive for the manufacturers to custom tune and could not be standardized for EPA certifications. Its the garage overhaul of just turning up the pumps and governors to 'roll coal' that I blame. Most think you need tons of unburnt fuel and soot blowing out your pipe to produce HP and TQ . Gale Banks has disproved this many times with actual dyno numbers of what a clean running custom tune could do on a diesel.

My puller below. In a couple months it will have a bigger turbo, a better tune and shorty stacks. My chromes were off the rear and as they were at the shop getting tires mounted when the picture was taken so spares mounted. I bought this truck with 63k miles for $9,000 6yrs ago. Still doesn't drip a drop of fluid and has been super reliable. Painted the bed and front bumper, added the vinyl stripes, all LED lights, Peterbilt wheels and new tires. Interior is just as nice. I've towed 44k lbs with it and still got 10mpg. I love traveling in this truck !
