The Motorhome Tear Out and Build Begins

Are you using solar to test? Is your solar already hooked up? I know zero about solar but find this interesting. After over 6 years we still love our Mitsubishi mini splits. Best purchase we made. Easy to clean and service.

We don't have solar in BABs (Big Ass Bus as Lisa named her) yet, but that's the next step after the heating / cooling is finished. I have to strip the roof of everything (a/c, vents and such), then I can install the solar, remove the panels leaving the brackets, reseal the roof with henry's tropi-cool, then reinstall the panels. My house is 100% solar (offgrid), so that's how I can measure the power usage. We have a 2.5 ton conventional split system for the house, a 2 ton mini split for the garage / work area and now BAB's has a 1 ton mini split. The 21.5 seer rating for the mini split in BABs is high, but well worth the cost because it saves bigtime on power consumption.

So you are getting the same solar panels for BAB you got for your house? Or are they more resistant to the different elements you Might run into between Florida, Nashville, cali, Oregon, Washington, quick trip up to Canada then some more of the east coast visiting all us members.By the way love the name Lisa gave hope nobody gets butt hurt over it. Seriously good job.

Not the same panels, updated more powerful panels. My house has thirty (30) 340 watt panels, and BABs is getting nine (9) 445 watt panels (most I can fit on her roof).

The panels are all pretty much the same and can handle just about any conditions (being aluminum and glass) so it's not an issue where we go.

Soon as BABs is done, we'll move into her, then I'll move everything out of my house into 40' steel shipping container, clean the house up and put it on the market. Soon as it's sold and I finish my current contract (ending June 30th) we'll head out on the road for BABs maiden voyage and make a bunch of stops to see as many people as we can in between visiting Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and any other place Lisa wants to see.

She's put up with my workaholic ways since we've been together (35 years), and now it's her time and anything she wants.

I just ordered Starlink internet. Having it shipped to my brother's place because we won't be here, but it'll ship when it becomes available in his area. Starlink just turned on roaming, so now you can use it on the road, so that'll work out well for wherever we are and when we find and buy a new property, I'll already have internet and not have to deal with paying for a home service.

I put in new duct (galv steel 4") and I'm happy to report it works perfectly now. Was 83° in BABs when I fired it up with the new duct, and in 40 minutes it was down to 72°. I have to wrap the pipes with insulation and do some woodworking and trim to do now, but that's fine. Here are some pics.

Most are just luanne and paper.

Mine has quite a bit of real wood, but it dried out and cracked, so I'll be replacing all the doors with some birch plywood. Way more stable in the heat and cold, and since we are painting all the cabinets, they'll look fine..

My buddies Bosch dishwasher is super quiet. You almost can't hear it run.

Yep, we have a Bosch in our house now. We had one in our last house too, and they are super quiet and do a great job cleaning. Best dishwasher we've ever had.

Here's some pics of the washer / dryer cabinet getting a platform to go over the steel ducting and added the water supply's and drain for the washer /dryer. Before anyone asks if that's the dryer vent in the floor, no, it's makeup air. In a space this small (about 320 sq ft) it'd pull alot of air through cracks and anything not sealed as well as the volume from the air conditioned space, so I decided to put in a makeup air vent under the washer dryer combo unit.

Rvs are put together like crap, you are doing a great job correcting the crap.

Wait till you see the new cabinet fronts I'm making for both the fridge and washer / dryer areas. It'll be way better than what they built (solid wood). I'm reclaiming some of the space next to the new fridge and building in a rev-a- shelf pull out pantry for more food storage.
