Well the 2nd body guy was supposed to paint the dash with left over Summit Chassis Black then clear coat but he was just smoking weed and priming and sanding for over 10 days when I said Hey I guess everything else is done? He said yes so I pulled the car out, I was paying my friends shop rent, electric and paying his guy $25 an hr but towards the end guy said hed take $15 an hr cause they didnt have any work for him yet, well this is what I have so try to wet sand and buff or just spray bomb with some decent paint? I used Rustoleum Pro when I epoxied and painted the steering wheel and Im happy with it

The top of the dash the body guy did do an excellent job of a matte black, I thought the dash front or face was supposed to be gloss on 68/69?

SEM Trim black is too flat for a dash except for the top part. Top part should actually be 0% gloss.

From the factory the lower dash should be 65-75% gloss. Full gloss black would look awful on a dash.

I should've taken a pic of the dash top but it is a matte finish to keep windshield glare away but really thought the front was gloss? hum I'll have to look for internet pics for the correct type not that my car's anywhere near correct anyway LOL

That's correct, the matte or flat surface at the top of the dash is for keeping the sunlight out of your face.

However, factory correct or not, I can't see you being happy with full gloss on the lower section. Take a look at some pics on google, etc. Semi gloss is not only correct, but looks way better, IMO. Full gloss shows off every piece of dust & will just look out of place.

I looked at some pics and it seemed a mixture of gloss and semi gloss so I went to ChevelleStuff.net and for 68 the dash top gets 0% gloss and lower dash gets 30% gloss so I'm thinking semi gloss, I like the Rustoleum Pro but no semi gloss, anyone know of a building supply like Home Depot, Lowes good semi gloss?

More I think about it gloss is out of the question (y):)

That rutoleum professional is available in a semi gloss black spray can. Or in Quarts. I used it on many areas of my wagon.

30% gloss sounds way too low, IMO. Just shoot it with semi gloss & it will be perfect.

If you want it on the flatter side, spray 3-4 light coats, waiting about 5-7 minutes in between each coat....if you want it glossier, spray a few light coats with less waiting time, then hit it with a heavier final coat with 2 passes. Be careful not to run it.

Don’t know if this will help. It my glovebox cover and dash untouched. Black and dash I wiped. The arm was painted with the details

Thank you for the pics & info on the paint, I got side tracked, brain fog, hyjacked and kidnapped and couldn't get to the store for paint, but I'll be back at it tomorrow with some Semi Gloss paint :)

If you can find the spray max 2k I think it is more durable. It also has a adjustable spray tip with a nice pattern. I used it on my control arms and also my rear end. It’s the hot rod black. They may make a semi gloss not sure.
