Going to be installing ac in my engine builders home shop, roughly 4-5" spray insul. on ceiling and front wall that faces West, 2" styrofoam insul. on side walls and he's looking more for humidity control to keep the iron heads & blocks from rusting while in storage and of course still be comfortable while working so I don't want to go over board to make it a cold damp environment with a 5 ton so Im installing a 4 ton air handler with a 3.5 ton ac outdoor unit to make a semi high eff. 3.5 ton system, I've tried 2 different load calc tools (both res ACCA) but cant really get anything above 2 ton, Jason if you see this I'd like your opinion, Im shooting for no higher than low 50's RH and on a 93-95 day no higher than 78°, rule of thumb says 3-3.5 ton but this is going to be pretty well insulated but with his equipment in use Im not sure what the heat load will be, it'll be his home machine shop for engine building, porting heads/intakes etc., here's a few pics

Also looks like he finished the end wall himself and put in a sectional garage door. I think he'll be sorry he did that with his lift being right there.

IIRC he said the shelves were already up at the end wall and loaded with stuff so it was easier to have it sprayed, typeing on my phone, had to put my good laptop in the repair shop (guy up the road, Geek in St Pete Kirk) to get it unstuck from airplane mode, but it should be well sealed and insul. And he said he might add more lights

I spoke with John today, he's borrowing a scissor lift to do this and also added more lighting 👍🙂 Im going with a 3 ton ac and 3.5 ton air handler for a semi high eff 3 ton, Jason any opinion would be greatly appreciated

I forgot to finish up with this thread, ac's been finished a few weeks now it's a 14 seer 3 ton ac unit outside and 3.5 ton air handler without any heat and seems to work very well bringing temp and humidity down pretty quick, when finished it has 4 - 8" rnd 90° fittings aimed for work areas and static pres. within spec but now we probably wont see any hot days for a while lol
