Yea true. Also, I really was only able to get in the game with this 66 el camino as that was a little more affordable it seemed. My end goal would be one day to find a 66 chevelle, driver quality and then swap all the parts but who knows if these prices will ever come down.
 
If the build sheet is truly real, it's a piece of history. Not sure just what the market would bare if it was, but I'd suspect a moderate surcharge over a typical L78. It'll get some scrutiny, and I'm sure more forums will follow this. Not too often we see something "new" in the chevelle circle. The seller would have been smart to have the build sheet professionally evaluated before listing.
 
I am going to put my el camino up for 70 since it will also have a 6.0 LS, the 4L trans and 9 inch :)

All jokes aside I would not be surprised though if this guy has big money into that red one, what do you guys estimate?
 
I still think the market will drop on Chevelles and other muscle cars in the next few years as people age, pass on and lose interest. The current Green education is not helping the old car market as well as the fuel prices.
 
I don't value any car more or less with an LS other than the typical cost to rebuild one and aftermarket options to get the power its presenting in the car. Example would be a stock (or close to) but rebuilt might ad $5K (to me and what I would pay). A Procharged 6.0/6.2 Id price $10-12K more if that's what I was looking for. Basically I'm just adding to the cost of the parts that they built for it. Mainly because If that's what I wanted to do to a car, I could do the work myself. Its a personal taste and I've seen done very well and not good at all. But to add $30K + to a car. No way no how. I would prefer to buy a complete finished roller less engine and trans for $25K and find the drive train myself. Which is what I did with my current 70. Still way ahead on what I could buy that completed car for with everything.
 
But if I was looking for a 69 currently, that black one is about a $25K. I don't care if it was documented or not as It still has the wrong engine and would take a lot of money and work to get it to a numbers car.

He is banking on the 1649687279723.png to make it a collector and the 'one'.

yea with the current market I guess I do not blame people for putting things up for crazy prices. I do not know where everyone is getting their money from but I want a piece of that :ROFLMAO:
 
I watch '67's very closely, and there are still deals to be had, but you need to jump rather quickly or miss out! The lowest prices are rising steadily however, sadly. Most of these cars are just not worth it! I may have one of the only original '67 L78 block engines without a car to put it in! :(

As for that ad for the '69 it obviously had factory A/C, and L78's DID NOT come from the factory with A/C! That ad is falsely presented, as the car couldn't have had an L78 originally, assuming those A/C vents are original to the car.
 
That car has astro vents, standard for a 136 car, no AC. For reference, I sold an original engine '69 L78 hardtop last year for $12.5k and it had it's original 4.10 KK rear, and a few items for the original engine, non runner, neading quarters, trunk pan, and complete restoration. This car looks to be in real solid shape from the ad, but the money is in the L78 claim and all the goodies that go with it, or lack there of. Just gathering the correct bolt ons of an L78 can run $15k. Not too many documented, no excuses, L78s left. From what I see here, $40k is way too high, but like most high end cars, a buyer needs to proceed with caution. It's an art form in this market, emotions and insults get you nowhere.
 
For shits and giggles, I asked the guy for a picture of the build sheet.
First he said, no because, " Too many people making fake stuff out there".
Then, the other day he sent these.

Nothing to link the build sheet bits with a particular vin number or car......and the hand written changes are highly suspect, never seen that and it's up to the seller to have it verified by someone of knowledge. That aint gonna happen.
