Bummed that it has been ten years and my 68 is not finished.

Build is taking way too long even after retirement.
Finally have most of the body rust repair panels ready to finish fitting, short block can be assembled.
M20 is rebuilt and GV installed. Scatter shield is all cleaned up and ready.
Jag IRS center section with Power-Loc and Wilwood rear calipers are rebuilt or new parts.
I have all the fitting of the 'Glass front tilt figured out.

Need to get a DD of some sort going ASAP, gas for the C30 is killing me. (Go Brandon!)
Probably the most difficult task remaining other than paint is getting the rest of the bolts out of the floor so I may complete modifying the spare chassis to take the IRS.
To do that more easily I should get my two-post lift installed.

Weather is finally decent and I still seem to have no time.

I was in that boat prior to military retirement but mainly because I was never home to get far enough. I was determined after that to finish it quickly so I could enjoy it.

HAHA I drove my K30 last week 60mi round trip to work and went through 1/2 a tank. At least the Chevelle does it in a 1/4 tank.

I have a Chevy Metro 1.0 I bought to swap the engine into a Midget Racer type replica.
Now contemplating the horror of having to fix and drive it instead.
Yah, had one before, gets almost 50 MPG, but have to wear a disguise to be seen driving it.
Hoping I may get the EFI conversion back on the truck soon and that it actually makes a difference.
Unless gas prices come down I will never be able to DD the El Camino as intended.

I remember when there was a spike in gas prices 7-10 years ago. People were asking a mint for Geo metros because they got such good mileage. Gas gets too much more expensive and you’ll won’t have to worry about a disguise. You’ll be the only one who can afford to drive.

I just started my project 6 mo or so back. I knew going in it would take years since i don't have a shop, but I make due. I would like to finish mine in 3 to five years.
With life getting in the way I can see a 10 year build.

Geo title is mucked up and I cannot get the Sig I would need to clear it up since that guy is in jail. So looks like it is back to being an engine donor.

Dropped the coin for an oil pan and pump for the El Camino today.
Realistically no way it goes down the road this year, too much money required.
But I am trying very hard to get the drive-train and chassis completed.
Intending to do most of that with the body off for easy access, just like the factory.
Body will go onto the rotisserie for as much of the work as possible.
Pretty determined to use up a set of tires by next winter. ;)

It took me over 10 years to complete the Gold car, I finally had enough and got it done.

I have so many projects right now I am just prioritizing. All of my weekends are full with something to do and something to fix. I am glad it is light later in the evening, I can get some things done after work.

Yay, my Kevco oil pan has shipped!
PDQ, everyone else was - is, weeks - months out for delivery.
I may finally be able to assemble the bottom end.
Still have some head and valve-train issues to resolve before completion.

Kevco pan arrived today.
Finally able to get a good look at the design.
Three gates, not as fancy as some others and not gold plated, but the price is decent and delivery was quick.
Ordered raw so I have to get it painted right away.

Got a piston stop for degreeing cams.
Also got my Cloyes Street Billet timing set and Felpro one-piece pan gasket.
First coat of POR-15 Chevy Orange applied to the block.
Minor, incremental progress, but I am happy to have it.

Trying to get something done each day, even if it is small.
Still painting the block, it is going to take a few coats of POR-15 to get the coverage I want.
Then I will have to let it harden before doing more work.

Found my Cloyes quick-button front cover, now $150, I got this one a long time ago.

I know how it feels. I buy stuff from years ago or stock because I know i'm gonna need it. Then I cant find it !

Coming along though.

That pan looks nice. With all the leaks reported in oil pans, myself included, make sure you buy a gallon of your lacquer thinner or acetone and fill the thing before you install. The supplier or manufacturer will blame it on you if a leak happens.

Not getting to make progress every day but at least getting a little every week.
Dropped $250.00 at Summit today so I will have everything I need to assemble the bottom end tomorrow.
Bought a Viton rear seal and 15% under-drive hard anodized aluminum crank pulley.
This engine will see some RPM.
Next goal has to be getting the rest of the top-end parts and water-pump.

Got to play with the engine build just a little.
Swapped out the purple oil pump spring for yellow and mounted the pick-up.
Also blended the oil pump discharge hole in the rear main.
Trivial but still progress.
Also decided that this engine will have NO chrome parts on it. :)
I have some chrome on my truck engine and find it a pain to keep looking good.
The cheap modern chrome is so thin that I have polished through it in places!
So the 327 gets paint and bare or hard anodized aluminum instead.
I want a purposeful rather than fancy appearance.
