Im going to put this Ford Windstar Dorman Efan replacement 4,000 cfm unit on my Champion alum rad and the JY Windstar Efan I nothed the plastic shroud large enough to clear the petcock but I think if I 90° down it would work better for ease of using the petcock, notch the shroud and have the petcock facing down out of the shroud, I don't think that cut notch would hurt airflow since it'll only be 1/2" X ? deep and wouldn't need to remove the Efan shroud to change antifreeze/water, so anyone done this? The fan thats in the car is from a JY 2003 Windstar $76, the new replacement Dorman Windstar Efan $110 to my door is the one that'll fit Dorman 630-131 ,lol I guess real question is anyone put a 90 on the petcock for ease of draining?

I posted the wrong Dorman part number in my orig post, correct part number is Dorman 620-131, nice fit and 4,000 cfm from the dual Efans, feels like twice the cfm I had with my old dual 12" Efans WO a shroud, maybe the shroud is making it feel like dbl cfm? Anyway it's only temp installed still need to come up with a way to mount it

Shroud makes a big difference. I bought an efan setup off ebay with an aluminum shroud and it cools really well.

I almost bought a 4,000 + cfm kit from Summit for $452 but then read about the Ford Windstar Efan fitting 68-72 Chevelles but it's Not the OEM it's the repop Dorman 620-131, $76 for a 19 yr JY Efan and $110 for a brand new Dorman Efan lol

I don't see why you need a hole in the shroud; the rad fluid could just run down the shroud into a catch pan ?
Unless the shroud has a lip that holds the anti-freeze ?

The shroud was covering the petcock but I was able to move it over enough to clear it but will need to extend it, shouldn't be hard 👍🙂

Decided to use a Flex-a-lite 32060 zinc anode plug instead of a petcock, I think it'll be better for the cooling system

I put the Flex-a-lite piece in today and took a drive with both fans on from start up instead of 1 at start up and the 2nd on the 185° stat, it was 5-6° warmer than last Sunday that got a pinch above 200°, today with fans running constant it got a pinch over 180° taking the same drive as last week only warmer outside temp so this has me thinking to run both Efan relays from the IGN spade on the fuse box to trigger the Efans to come on, my choke wire is already on that spade but I really dont see too much amp draw problem doing it this way, does anyone else?

I'd consider using a relay to power the fans to be on the safe side.

I was thinking 1 off IGN spade and 1 off toggle switch but after todays test drive I think both constant on would be better and no switches to forget about...?

If it were me, I'd have a 160° switch, and then that'd be it. Running in the winter (even if only for a couple weeks), it'd keep it too cool, but for testing now, it'd be fine.

Well I think I have my Efans figured out for best rad/engine cooling, I bought a Hayden adjustable electric fan controller that has a preset of 160° but adjusts from 90° to 210° part # 3651 it runs the smaller of the 2 Efans and the larger I have on the IGN spade of the fuse box controlling another Efan relay, the Hayden controller needs a 30 amp fuse for main power and I have it wired to an aux fuse box for a boat mounted on the front inner fender next to the battery, other relay is fed from that fuse box too but different fuse, seems to work good and since I have Short Term Memory loss ( Or is it a Beer 30 thing?😆) No switch to forget 👍 I just need to wrap the wires in this plastic stuff and make it neat

I just ran across a thread Bikeron posted and gave me an idea to run the Green wire that would be for ac on the fan I have an adj temp relay on to a toggle switch for a safety feature 👍🙂
