1966 LS swap

overpaid

Well-Known Member
Here we go!

1966 el camino. I bought the 6.0 and 4L60e for 3500 delivered to my residential address. Honestly for the price I figured the engine would have been cleaner but I do have high expectations sometimes :)

Here is the start. Empty engine bay and engine and trans. I did a clean on the engine, probably will do one more clean tomorrow.

More to come!

All eyes.....you realize you're one in 10,000 that says "I'm going to LS that"... and actually sees it through?

You're going to ditch that truck intake I hope ? Summit sells a LS3 intake-throttle body + injectors for $1000
I heard the truck intake flows well. I’m open to a different intake but I am doing DBW and I am leaving the cathedral port heads. I think I have those? Let me create a new thread for the intake in the appropriate section…

I think it cleaned up pretty well, I am happy with this..I am going to order the engine mounts/transmission crossmember and oil pan Monday so next post will be surrounding that.

Right now stock pan is on, I was leaning toward the low profile Moroso one but still researching a few things.

The Holley pan is made in China so I am wondering why I can’t just buy the other Chinese one at half the price….Holley still may be better, but making sure

Don't fuk around with the knockoffs. Just save yourself the $ and aggravation and get the 302-2 or -3 and be done with it.
I want to research a little, to see if knockoffs are garbge but once I can get some proof then I will stick with holley or the moroso. Sorry I appreciate the input but I do not want to do holley just because it is holley. It is still made in China. No worries though I will let everyone know what I did and we will see, let me be the one to worry or have the regrets :)

There are probably used 302-2 pans available because they don't accomodate a stroker. Look on ebay, Facebook marketplace and craigslist

LS swap is easy stick to one manufacturer(Holley) one suggestion is ditch the 4l60e you will be cutting the floor. 4l80 will fit better and if you’re into real cars 😉you will want to swap a TKX into it. Don’t cut corners trying to “save” money ask me how I know 😂🤣
People are suggesting Holley not because it’s Holley, it’s because it fits properly when using their headers, engine mounts and oil pan it’s no different then swapping a sbc or a bbc.
If you want to do it cheaper you can use Energy suspension short wide mounts with a f-body pan(2002) you will need to make the headers fit though.
I’ve swap the LS twice second time was with a Holley 302-3 pan fits way better the thr f-body pan.
