Nope, that's when GM started cutting corners..... can't afford 4 headlights, so we'll use only 2.
They learned that the old 4 headlight key buzzer under the hood cars were out of style, the 71's were ok, 72's are the perfected Chevelles.
 
I had a 68 and 69 with warning lights.

Gold car, built May 72, seatbelt buzzer disabled. Bronze 72, built in August 71 does not have buzzer.
 
Seatbelt warning light....yeah, I drove mom's 72 impala which had the buzzer, always buckled it under my ass. It was a car I liked driving, so we beat the hell out of it. When they got a new car they sold it to me for $300. 2 weeks later the tranny puked. Carma is a bitch
