Stopped by my 2 friends interior shop yesterday and 1 of the guys, Jimmy is working on this poor 73 Impala, well I guess it's not Poor car since the guy paid $900 for the vert top in Orange and $4K for seat covers and I think he said door panels but sure isn't my cup of tea

Like a low rider or ricer, I would not want one, but I applaud anyone, especially a younger person, who is doing ANYTHING with cars. They are welcome to park by me at any car show. But orange... maybe he went to UT? They are a bunch of weirdos to be sure ;)

1973 was the low point for the small block. Terrible mileage and performance.
But around here, anything pre-1974 can be modified without an emission check. (y)
Those mid-70's Montes and Impalas were huge land barges.

I had a 73 Monte, Silver with Red velour interior that looked very nice but had a rear freeze plug leak and a bad smelling interior when I bought it in the early 80's for $400 or $500, I slide the trans back and replaced the freeze plug (or 2?) but couldn't get the stink out of the interior so sold it for a couple hundred more than I had in it, that hood went on for miles it seemed lol, yeah my buddy doing the Orange interior figures the guy is some drug dealer or some thing shady as he just flips out a lotta cash whenever he's asked to pay UP FRONT, the other partner has a 72 440 4 spd Cuda that should be out of the custom paint shop soon then getting a 500 c.i. 700 hp engine from the builder that built my short block, I'll post some pics when I see it, Cuda owner still owns his HS car a mid 70's (75?) Camaro with an ATK 355 & a Pro Charger

At least it hasn't ended up as a derby car.

Annnnnd... there was one at the car show that I went to today! Beautiful survivor car, copper with a tan vinylt top and interior, with 26" rims that stay still while you drive. It looked like it was gliding in. It seemed well received.
