Buddy got done dyno testing his 383 today, I let him test my Ported SBC Victor Jr. vs the stock version it made 32hp more than out of the box one does. Picked up an average of 13hp in most places where it had that peak at 7200. Kind of nice knowing ones work pays off, now he wants my intake, but I told him it would be $500 for the porting work + his intake in trade. I am really amped up to try this later in the year over my modified Air Gap on the 358.

That would be fun. I'm way behind the curve, so even a 383 is exotic in my book. Apples and oranges here, but I do plan on upgrading the CJ with a 383 someday. It will be all about low rpm torque.

A good RPM Performer will work good on that engine for you. You can score them at swap meets for like $50 at times.

32 hp from porting an already good intake? Impressive
The guy running the pump said the that Vic Jr. is right on par with a S/V. if that's the case I may not need to but one of those now. I do have an extra Holley 300-25 I would swap for a 2925 Eddy though.

Just got a 2925 Eddy Super Victor form a friend for a good deal. Looks like I get to test out some of my new Lowe's 24v die grinders. We will see if this is better than the Vic. Jr. at the track later this year. The S/V I ported for the Vortec heads sure worked good.

What is your technique for determining where to polish/round/remove metal then?
I learned from an old porter years ago it's about the shape of the port rather than how big it is. I also get to see others work and then try to replicate that. Most of it's pretty easy to do but the most important thing (for me) is the valve job. You can pick up almost 30hp in that alone and do nothing else to the head. You should have seen how bad the valve job was on my Vortec Bowtie heads, looked like a 5th grader did the work it was so bad, that' why I redo every head I buy. I will even redo my AFR heads as any head can be out of round after seeing valve seat run out over .008 on some heads.
