Need help choosing valves for my 1967 L78 Build!

Well, as things have been going, apparently since ordering my stainless steel street Milodon 2.19" Intake Valves in October 2021, the backorder date has just been extended once again to the end of July "maybe"...they have no clue really! I already bought two sizes of Milodon exhaust valves (1.725" & 1.88") & will use whatever the engine builder recommends. But my heads look pretty good...so I'm tempted to leave them stock 1.72.

But, if I want to get going with my build this summer, I need to go with another set of valves, and hopefully return what I already have.

Any suggestions? Jeg's or Summit valves?...Manley?...other?

Thanks,

John

I chose Ferrea exhaust valves and Manley severe duty intakes. Recommended for weight and strength for a plus 600 lift sft.

My lift will only be 0.539 with my Howards solid tappet cam (similar to stock L78). Manley Street be ok for mainly street use? I'd think these valves are better than original valves back in the day right?

Be sure you get the right ones
  • Street Master (Straight Stem) and Street Master Street Flo (Pro Flo Undercut Stem) Shapes Available

Get 11/32 stem to lower the weight, Ferrea or Manley under cut swirl polished, real good springs & Ti. locks and a great VJ 🙂

While 11/32" valves are nice for racing, they are not needed on the street. Most of the time I just get the ones Competition Products sell in a package deal. The price is hard to beat and work well.

I've used a few sets of those years back. They were fine.

If the heads haven't been rebuilt yet and you haven't bought valves yet why not go with lighter valves?

I just received an email from Jeg's saying my Milodon intake valves are estimated to be shipped in AUGUST! That's a little over 2 months from the day I ordered them! Sheesh! We have "Let's Go Brandon" to thank for this shit!
