I haven’t worked on it much in the last couple of years. My son started kart racing and then I took over running the racing program and I got pretty involved with that, but I’ve decided to knuckle down and get it done once and for all.

Working on wiring under the hood. I’m Installing Vintage Air, an electric fan, and an AA classic update harness, so it’s a bit of spaghetti. I’m concentrating on getting it running now.

You've come a long, long way with that car. Keep posting and we will keep egging you on. Keep up the good work!(y)

Thinking back, the thing to do would have been buy one in better condition and use this one for parts. Would have saved me 5 years. But by the time I realized that I was already way into it.

I replaced both fenders, both doors and then new skins on those doors, quarter skins, inner and outer wheelhouses which I had to section because convertible ones weren’t available, entire trunk floor and braces, rear floor pan section, main floor and braces, front body mounts, radiator support. Heck, the front header on the top frame is so rusty I might have to replace it too.

I spent a lot of time on the body and paint. I hope it looks ok When I get it into the light. The color sanding and buffing didn’t go as well as I’d hoped. I’ve got a few pros I can can on if it needs a finishing touch.

I remember when you got that car, then life changes hit and other interests took over, happens to all of us. Looks great!

ive got a lot of stuff going on for sure. I try to keep all my interests going but there isn’t enough time 8n the day. The Chevelle got set aside for the last year when I was running the racing league.

I try not to think about how it’s been laid up for 2/3 of the time I’ve owned it. 25 years in Feb.

Sounds like a solid Michigan car.

Fond memories or lifetime of regret? :ROFLMAO:

Same smell 😅

But Becky has fond memories for sure. She’s the reason I decided to get a convertible (she had an 80s Sunbird GT convertible). She went to look at every car with me. This one was the first one I looked at but decided to keep looking. six months later I mentioned I regretted not buying it and she said why not call him, he probably still has it. So I did. I remember we were laughing because the seller reminded us of Mr Anderson from Beavis and Butt Head.

We drove it all over Ohio doing cool shit, always with the top down unless it was raining hard.

I just tried out a new buffer I picked up a while back. 10x better than the pos I was using before. I feel better about how the pain’t will turn out. Still won’t be perfect but good enough being it’s not a Z16 convertible or Evening Orchid Camaro.

Let's see some shots of the buff.....

Shit’s getting real. I bought a battery.

Still have a bunch of work under the hood and then clean everything up and make it pretty, but I think if I keep it up it’s running very soon.

in between working on the car and waiting for parts, I’ve been hitting it with the buffer again. I went back to the cut stage and I’m much happier with the results. I think what was happening was the buffer I was using wasn’t getting enoug material off. I could still see crosshatch from sanding. It was frustrating
