Chevelle project update

I’d recommend the old school Keystone Mag Wheels like what was on my ‘67 when I sold it....watch for it pop up on the website at the top in Deepwater Blue.

I must say though that my current ‘67 has disc brakes and came with the rally wheels, and those wheels just look so right on a Chevrlle!

I'm a vintage only guy, so probably no help in your quest. The US slot mags are available new again, and I think they have some larger sizes. To my eye, they are near exact of thier vintage stuff. Loved the keystones but they only make the Klassic now, not the Kustomag, which, for me, is the only version that looks right. They're the ones popularized by Sox/Martin. Cragars are okay, but not the cool round spokes that were available till 30 years ago or so. Steel wheels are always cool with dog dish caps, but only work on a certain stance. Lot of opinoin here, but I'm REAL picky about wheels and tires. Tires are another issue with me, they just don't make vintage looking tires without going through Coker, and I'm not going to spend $1400 on a set.

I need 18” diameter. Ive got big brakes front and rear. The 17s I have on it now just barely fit over the front calipers.

Ok, got the rest of the windshield area moldings on. Heck of a time getting them to fit. I think the windshield was too short. You can see the butyl tape I used to attach the windshield Along the bottom. Should have been about a half inch taller. Anyway, I noticed the job I did polishing the a pillar exterior mouldings was horse shit. So I’ll have to do those over, but not right now. Right now I just want to drive my stupid car that’s not an Evening Orchid Camaro or Z16 convertible.

I think I remember following your build thread on the other site. Paint looks great. Now that it's warming up a bit I gotta get back on my paint.
You are making steady progress. Feeling like your finish line is in sight.

I can see the end of the tunnel. Interior, wheels and tires, the rest of the AC install, soft top, and after that it’s just tying up loose ends.

started on the interior this week. This is about 4 hours worth of work.

You'll be riding in it soon, and enjoying some quality time with the wife.

I've always loved a white interior. So clean looking. All new covers, or complete new with everything?

I had a heck of a time getting everything to line up. Strange, given that the only actual new parts are the flat panels. The rest of it was just recovered. The wind lace was a completely different design and I had to massage the lip at the rear of the door opening to get it in tight enough that the stitched seam was totally hidden by the panels. Also, I bought the Totally Stainless body kit which oddly did not include trim screws for the rear quarter trim panels. I’ve had to scramble a bit to get the right fasteners and I ended up reusing some old ones, which bugs me a little but they are in areas that will be covered so I should just get over it.

Got the rest of the AC hooked up and the bucket seats in. I got the sport seats from Legendary and they’re, well shall we say, poofy. Very poofy. My eyes are right at the top of the sun visor.

And I’m finding all kinds of parts. I’ve got like 8 sets of the rubber seat back bumpers. How does that happen?

Looks good, but I have to wonder how long it'll take the seats to settle to a reasonable height? It'd make for an uncomfortable ride with the top up if you're sitting that high already.
