The Station Wagons We Grew Up With

Dang I love a good station wagon ! Have you seen the price of some of these though? Even the late 70's and 80's? I remember a few years ago was like $4K. Now they want like $12K+

Not 4 months ago I was looking at a '68 Dodge Polara SW that was a barn find in pretty good shape (craigslist) and by the time I called on it, it was sold. He listed it for 8k.

I asked the guy (he sells barn find cars and trucks) how often he comes across the wagons and he said very few survived, but when he finds one and lists it, it's usually sold with an hour.

Growing up my parents had a 1956 Chevy Bel Air Station Wagon & a matching 2 door post Bel Air sedan. Both cars were turquoise & white. We took the 2-door sedan to California from Illinois & back in 1958....it had the 235 6 cyl and it never missed a beat. Great car! No a/c of course. Those truly were the days!!!

My Dad was a TV and electronics salesman in the 60's and 70's. He always had a station wagon to haul antennas around to his dealers. The Vista Cruisers were definitely cool. Skylights and 3rd row ( backwards) seating. I didn't think it was very cool though when I was 16 and had to drive the Vista cruiser when all of my buddies had Chevelle's, Novas and trucks.

Ryan Newman’s Perfect Family Van

Ryan Newman wasn’t expecting to get a 1960 Chevy Parkwood Wagon when he showed up to auction one day with his kids.
The little rascals started playing around in the car, and he knew it was destined to be.
The car turned out to be the perfect family vehicle for Newman and his kids. He regularly takes them to get ice cream in it.
It has proven to be way more reliable than it looks, even if it’s not as pretty as his race day Camaro.

I think it looks badass as it is. Love the patina.
