Not my Elky, but my '68 Caprice. I had the front clip off it about 5 years ago, and I replaced the blower because it seemed like a good idea to do it while the fender was off. I did not know about the Corvette blower upgrade at that time, so I used a stock replacement. Here in Houston, it runs a LOT and its been fine ever since. When I took the car out of hibernation in March, I noticed that the blower was raising hell, dam bad bearing! I got a Corvette blower and connector, and made a spacer ring, and today I went to change it. We all know that to drop an A body fender well, you jut unbolt it and let it drop down. Not a B body... the fender well is behind the fender lip, not over it like a Chevelle. It also has a couple of weird braces that have to come out. Every single bolt and the battery have to come out to get it down enough to get your hands up in there. I got the blower and spacer installed and wired and it blows like a hurricane, and then I had to reverse the process. The whole thing took over 4 hours, I could have changed 3 Chevelle blowers in the same time and had half the cuts on my arms.
The blower that I removed wasn't even dusty, but had 1/4" of deflection on the shaft, it had been rubbing the blower flange and the edge of the evap box. And it was a made in the USA part!
Oh, and summer has hit us full force, it was mid 90's today, and I sweat my ass off.
But to me, it beats golf or tennis!!
