Normal Work Days

Yesterday was the first time in more than 20+ years that I never turned on my laptop or did any work. Was an odd thing for me, but as I'd mentioned before, it's been a long time coming, and way overdue. My eldest daughter Michelle was pinned an RN last night and it's time to let the next generation drive the bus. I'm proud of all my kids and their accomplishments and I look forward to this next chapter in Lisa's and my life. I think I'm going to enjoy not pushing myself anymore and just taking 1 day at a time.

Kevin, it was great seeing you the other night. You are passionate about your work and accomplishments and it is something to be proud of.

We are here on the earth for a finite time and what we do has little or no effect on the timeline. Enjoy your time with Lisa and your family. You can always find another job but never another family.

For me it is also a milestone day, my youngest graduates high school. Time has gone by too fast, the little pony tailed girl has turned into a beautiful young woman. Like you, I am so proud of my daughter (and my son). In August she heads off to college, we will be empty nesters.

I enjoyed seeing you the other night too, and thanks for the compliment.

You and Lisa are not far behind my Lisa and I, so it won't be too long before you guys are in the same boat. We share your joy in watching your kids accomplish goals in life and in today's day and age, it's a great feat to remain true to one's self.

Please give our congratulations to your beautiful young daughter as she graduates today. Kudos to you and your wife for raising a wonderful child.

Such a relaxing (but busy) few days we've had. Seems like a lifetime jammed into 4 days, but it was enjoyable. The big takeaway has been: I didn't do any of my "normal work" and I didn't even turn my laptop on for 3 days, and I'm much better for it.

My semi retirement will be welcomed and I can't wait for it to begin. June 30th will be my last official day of contractual work, and it can't get here soon enough.
