Carpet question (can't see an interior section on the site)...

I just got a new carpet kit from ACC. This carpet has padding attached to the back of it. My question is this: Do I still need to put the jute padding underneath it, or will it work as is?
I have the jute padding from several years ago when I put the current carpet in (the original stuff was still usable at that time). Let me know. Thanks.

So there are 2 questions here...

Do you want an interior section?
and
Carpet backing.

Do you have sound deadener down?

Sound deadener goes on the metal floor, than the carpet with jute attached. That jute is thick, and a good Wiss industrial scissors is nice, but a sharp pair of dikes will nip it out for those trims and hole punctures. Never drill a twist bit through that thick jute, it'll grab and dethread your carpet ... always nip a small hole with the dikes before running a drill or a screw through your new carpet. Fun fun.

I have the jute material in a box from years ago. The new carpet has a padded backing attached. I am presuming that I need to use the jute.

Just use the carpet with the jute on it, no need to double the jute. I use Peel n seal from Lowes on the bare floor, its like dynamat but cheaper. Two $16 rolls will do it, and its an excellent sound deadener. The stuff they sell that looks like shingle material just doesn't cut it. The advise about good shears and nipping the holes is good. I'm no guru, but have done a lot of interiors.

If I was to attempt to use this stuff, would I put it under the plastic wire loom/guard that runs diagonally in the driver foot well?

Run speaker wires or any extra power wires through that loom before you start. If you ever have a desire to upgrade something or add something in the back you'll have a wire already.

I also ran heavy ga. speaker wire through the ribbon, if you ever want to add an amp in the trunk pre wire for that too, I didn't think about that and I used Dynamat Extreme (CL) and FatMat under the ribbon tight to the floor, ACC carpet with jute backing and No extra Jute over the ribbon and I don't feel any heat from my headers or 3" exhaust but I Dynamated the int firewall since the carpet doesn't go up behind the dash very far, I also FatMatted behind the seat, side walls and package tray before putting the new int tray in

I put the peel n seal on teh floor, then the ribbon in the depression, then the jute backed carpet on top of it, same reason, to access the ribbon if needed.
