Looks like my local track ruined the Muscle Car race now

I was watching the Rock Falls Muscle car race and I noticed only a handful of cars in the heads up eliminations and thought that's strange, what's going on? Well it turns out the owner decided to put a money class like a gamblers race. So all the guys who are poor bracket racers went into that class so now the Muscle car race is just another bracket race with high dollar cars ruining it for the locals. The Muscle car race was always a heads up event with NO BRACKET CARS ALLOWED. I usually race in the 11.50 class and last fall we had 9 cars in that class, yesterday there was no one in the 11.50 class. Looked like not a lot of late model cars there either. If this is not bad enough their Wed. nite drags will no longer be prepped so I'm out for that this year as I don't to see how far I can spin my tires, that's for the street squirrels. Looking a like I will be hitting the car show circuit again.

Rock Falls "Musclecar Race" was my first ever time at a drag strip.
I went multiple rounds in the 15.0 class and red-lighted in the final.

A few years ago any Muscle Car owners that use to go to our Local Track stopped going when the Track Manager dropped the Street Car Class for the 1/4 Mile
and started the Nostalgia Class for the 1/8 Mile
so now some of the Semi - Pro and Pro Racers race in it in addition to there Pro Classes

Hard for a Old guy like me(70) to cut a .005 or less Light at Launch like the Young Guns do
I think my best has been .013 but mostly higher
@#$%^&* Old Age sucks sometimes
However I do like it that everyday is either Saturday or Sunday

I will be 67 in a month and while I can still cut a good now and then I have a huge problem racing against cars with all the electronics so they can dial in a time for the class they want to pick on.

What's the 15.0 class?
Rock Falls "Musclecar Race" had different bracket for each dial-in. Instead of dialing in your own number, they'd class you with all the cars that were running the same times.
Back when my car was really slow, first time ever at a race track, my car ran 15.04s consistently so I went multiple rounds against other slow cars.

This was about 18 years ago.

After BIR had Show and Go in the late 80's Al decided he needed a Muscle Car race of his own. Boy the classes were quite strange for sure, like Late model modified and about 10 other classes like that and the quickest car always won. Fast forward 10 years the program changed to 1/2 sec increments which worked pretty good for the longest time then the sand baggers came out, mostly big bracket cars but even the regulars Muscle cars started doing it. My friends and myself suggested changes to make the race better like a pro tree to get rid of the red lights for a better race and you must run within your bracket time even if you will, you break out you lose also. Everything has fallen on deaf ears out there and they do not listen to the little guy which is sad. Since Jennifer has left the place has gone down the hill track wise for me and putting in Steve Queen was a super bad move which they found out the hard way. I would love to race at Show and Go again but that's 3 days and a $300 damn near to race it now, Yikes and if you are not one of the new "outlaw" cars you sit in the staging lanes and wait and wait. Powercruise at BIR used to be fun for the local drag racer but they too only have one time trial session for the whole weekend and that's not worth me taking my car out for. The one local car show down the street was packed last night and with gas and the crappy race programs I guess I will do that until these owners come back form la la land to fix this.

What's the 15.0 class?
It's the class where you run the 15.0 to 15.49 index heads up, if they tightened them brackets down to 3 tenths the race would be pretty interesting, like 15.0 to 15.29 so you would need to be on your game.

Rock Falls was always so damn expensive, and poor track prep.
Test & Tune was $70.

Cedar Falls, IA is only about 20 min further drive for me and T&T is $20 to run all day.

I like to go once a year just to play... not a bracket racer or anything, just looking to get a good timeslip, and improve my previous best and see what the latest changes to the car did.
Running stick car on street tires, and suspension not dialed in for drag racing means I need a lot of runs to get a good one. :)

You can thank Corda for that the damn crook, now the new owner Greenheck is just as bad IMO.
