Camping and RVing YouTube videos

Anyone got favorite videos or people that they follow?

I had gone down the rabbit hole of truck, car camping videos. Not necessarily something I greatly want to do but just found it interesting how people were building out their trucks, SUV and even cars to camp and even live in.

I like the videos by this young guy who camps out of the back of his F150. Mixture of content from places he goes to trying to heat the back of his truck with various methods (he lives in Minnesota) to the food he makes. Pretty entertaining IMO

That guy has been doing it for some time and has made a heap of money from youtube doing it.

IIRC he had saved 400k (I think) and paid for his first house cash, and still goes out on the road.

Anyone into over landing? Gotta admit that I’ve felt like it’s a bit of a fad. I feel like a see several vehicles a day with roof top tents mounted. The roof top tent has always struck me as rather impractical. Seems like many people keep them semipermanently mounted so they’re reducing your gas mileage 365 days a year. They’re quite expensive. They have a limited footprint (whereas a family tent has a lot more room). Have to go up and down a ladder to access it. Etc etc. I’ve also seen them commonly mounted to pretty unrugged appearing vehicles, Subarus and such. Not that those are great vehicles but I’d be surprised if the roofs of some of these cars are rated to carry the load of the tent plus 300-400 lbs of people. My old Saturn Vue’s roof was rated for 80 lb I think and my Honda Pilot is only 165#.

Anyway I got into looking at some of the pickup mounted systems with wedge tents or popups. Seems pretty cool. Also very expensive, also lowers you mileage so it doesn’t necessarily fix the problems with roof top tents but pretty cool nonetheless. Ultimately these things are semipermanently mounted so you are shit out of luck when you need to haul sheets of plywood from Home Depot.
