Winterizing

Are you supposed to do that? lol
I owned many boats but here on the leftist coast winter was never an issue. Water Skiing on New Years day was a ritual.

There are some days in Jan, Feb and early March where the block could crack. We may use ours one more time this year and put her to bed.

Drain block water, run the float bowl empty, have tank full of non ethanol, park it, lower lower unit down, pull battery and cover.

Sta-Bil is what I used to put in my gas when I knew the boat would sit. Doesn't hurt to disconnect battery cable either but I'd also use a trickle charger 1.5 amp to keep the battery healthy. A good coat of wax is also helpful prior to covering for a long snooze.

Also if your boat is an inboard make sure you drain the exhaust manifolds as well as opening the drains on the block. I also pull the hoses off the water pump and drain them as well.

Also drain the impeller pump by removing the inlet hose to it.

Washing my boat today, going to take it an fill it with non ethanol gas, run the fuel out of the carb and drain all the water.

I changed the oil in the spring, maybe have 6 -10 hours on it. Probably won't change it again. I will order a fuel filter for it.

I wish I could fix this PITA oil leak. I had the engine 4.3L out last winter, replaced the oil pan gasket and rear main seal, still leaks and it is coming from the rear engine area under side, I think it is the rear main again.

Any chance it could be the dip stick tube? Oil pressure sender at the back also could be leaking and running down the back.

Put some sta-bil in the gas if you're letting it sit for a while.

Nope, is dry on both, That dipstick tube fits in the oil pan drain hole, I have changed the gaskets out using OMC ones. I can get my arm under the engine, ir is definitely coming from ths back.

I ran the carb out of gas, drained the water and now I am waiting for everything to dry. Will put her to bed tomorrow.

I hear a loud rumbling when reving the engine from the transom, I am thinking it may be gimble bearing time.
