No replacement for displacement? LOL, not true!

I've heard the old "No replacement for displacement" adage for decades.
I always laugh when I hear that, F1, Indy, and several street cars prove it to be a fallacy.
Today I found this on another forum, here is the link. It's a Lotus.

I am hoping to / but then again if I do I would have to put a Cage in my Car and that is not going to happen :)
just trying to run my Full Interior Stock Body Weight 67 with Good UMI Perf Suspension Parts and Old School Shocks/Springs

I know of at lest one 64 Chevelle owner here and then there are some 68s / 69s Chevelles all BBCs 396s even, that are just as Fast or Faster
the guy drives the car to the Track like me Runs it all day then Drives Home also
And they do not get Squirrely going down the Track  like the guy in the Lotus
who would not likely be allowed to Race at our Track / Safety First thing

if you look in the Thread there are plenty of guys running better than 11:00s with a Street/Strip Chevelle with BBCs that Weigh 3500 lbs or more
unlike that little Lotus that likely only Weights 2000 lbs or less and I wonder what Engine/RearEnd he was running in the Lotus
so you are not comparing Apples to Apples but Oranges to Coconuts IMHO :)

Here is a Pic of me and Marco Lineing Up at our Local Track

I took a few hundred pounds off the nose of my 68 El Camino with a 'Glass front clip.
It will look stock when finished.
Last I looked a 9.6# second run was pretty impressive for any street driven car no matter how they got there.
My point was small displacement kicking a lot of big displacement butt.

That's the next engine for the jeep, aftermarket block 427 sbc. Diseased I am.

Shoving in a couple extra atmospheres is an adequate replacement for displacement.

I'm all about going fast in whatever way you can make it work. Hell, I owned and raced a Miata for a little while...

I prefer the simplicity, torque, and durability of an NA pushrod V8, but would race anything if I can win in it.

I can beat that feather weight pos with my 3800 lb Chevelle. With only a single 4 bbl N/A

I hear that a lot, but not everyone is building a stump puller. Performance level is personal, and a 396 is lighter on gas than a 496.

Lot's of variables in either piece. In a numbers matching car the 396 may have value but mileage was never the big block's best asset.
