Building Our Barndominium

Title is almost done. As soon as title is done we are closing.

First time ever for us, but they are sending a courier to us for closing (might be because of who the buyer is we don't know), we'll sign the docs, then it goes to the buyer to sign, then it's done.

Soon as that's done (and the money is in our account), I'll divulge the buyer's name.

Yep. In CT you must have your attorney present at closing. Here in Florida, it's really simple, just closing agents with a witness.

This is the skid steer I'm looking at buying (Bobcat 773), and has a 1,700 lb lifting capacity (without counterweights). Then I'd have to buy the root rake grapple combo, and a set of forks.

I'm holding off buying the skid steer for now. I think the market is very inflated and with the impending financial issues this administration is denying, I'm waiting until people start selling off trying to recover their losses.

Since it rained all day today, I decided to test out a HiBoost 10k signal booster for cell signal (I choose them because this unit encompasses all the carriers and bands), and since T-Mobile is piggybacking their 5G signal in the same bands as 4G, I thought it would be a great test.

I set the system up (didn't even mount the antenna outside), I was shocked to go from very low to no LTE signal with 98% missed calls (inside our aluminum clad battle cruiser), to 5G full signal with full strength.

I originally bought the system because we are going to need it inside the new barndominium because it's all steel and blocks all signal. Nice to be pleasantly surprised.

You should consider doing a couple of demos from your local dealers. Run a couple of different machines for 4 to 8 hours each and get a good idea of which one works best for you. Plus you'll get a good start on some of the work you need done. Make sure to put a Deere 333G in the mix, you'll be impressed.

Wow, I bet that Hiboost amp would wake up my 5G TMobile internet. I have an attic window that would be perfect for it.
Ordered all of my 4/0 copper cables for the batteries/inverter connections; should be here in a few days. Getting close :)

Since I'm so rural now, not likely any of them would let me demo thier equipment. Closest dealer is over an hour away. I was more considering buying used anyway since it won't be used for business and it only sporadically.

Can't really justify spending 80k on a machine that I might put 200 to 300 hours on it a year, but a used one I don't mind getting scratched or dented since it'll be for yard cleanup. I currently own a ditch witch 3500 with 5' trencher and backhoe that does quite a bit, but the skid steer would speed things up for cleanup of the felled lumber (to burn it).

I also tested a parabolic dish for the amplifier and I went to 5G UC with speeds at almost 400 mps. The dish (called the Long Ranger) was not included with the amp, I bought it separate.

I see your getting some recommendations for your new residence, and I'd like to include mine own.
I'd like to encourage you to plant a Cottonwood Tree or something similar. We have a lot of work to do. 🤠
Maybe something decorative to keep the wife happy, but able to handle the Rope!

Already in the works (sycamores, maples, and oaks), but I do already have a number of suitable trees that will be happy to lend a hand.

I have a few nice live oaks that won't break under the stress of heavy weight, so we'll be ready when the time comes.

Sounds Great! Around here we have Coyotes to handle the leftovers. Makes things easy. 🤠
I hope you might have a pond full of alligators at the local Country Club so we can take out the trash. I'm recently into convenience.
