Building Our Barndominium

Had fun yesterday disassembling my Bendpak 4 post 9k lb high lift.

Runways are so damn heavy it's all I could take on the trailer. We had considered selling the lift with the house, but our real estate lady told me it would not bring any value to the sale, just interest alot of guys who wanted a lift.

I had researched what it would be to replace the lift and wow, they got really expensive. 2 years ago I paid $3,800 shipped, and now it's $5,200 plus a fuel surcharge. Now you understand why we decided to take the lift with us.

I'll be buying another lift after the living quarters are built out and we move in, but it won't be a 9k lb lift, or the extra tall one, just a 7k lb standard 4 post lift, but I will get the trolley jacks (2 of them) this time.

Stage 2 complete. We have completely moved out of our house, and the house has been spruced up (not too much had to be done to a 4.5 year old house, but I did have to take all the solar out and remove everything from my garage including the lift), and it gets pictures tomorrow and listed in the MLS on Thursday.

We're hoping for a cash offer, but whatever happens will happen. Our agent will do an open house this Saturday and we'll review offers on Sunday. It's taken us a little over a month to move out and doll up the house and we're glad it's done. Next time we'll reconsider moving, or pay someone to do all the work moving us (we paid to have movers come in but they filled 2 very long trailers 35' and a 39' and they couldn't get anything from the garage or the shed, so we had to move all of that stuff).

Yer a busy fella. I get tired just reading about what you done. Gonna be nice when you're done.

I have been very busy, and to top that off I worked an extension contract until August 19th (last Friday), then I semi retired, so it's been tough doing my day job and moving at the same time, but thankfully I'm done. Tomorrow we meet the agent at 10:30 am to give her the key, then I'm taking the rest of the week off to start my retirement.

Lisa is going to cook my favorite tomorrow.... Steak with whipped taters and corn, with a light salad sprinkled with fresh cooked bacon.

Life is great!

** Update **

Our house went up for sale on Thursday morning (August 25th) and hit the MLS by 9am with little to no fan fare and high expectations. Our agent contacted us that evening to let us know that there would be 2 showings on Friday, but there would also be an open house on Saturday, so Lisa and I drove down on Friday afternoon and she walked through the house touching it up and dusting all surfaces, and I mowed and trimmed the yard.

Saturday came and went with nothing and Lisa and I were disappointed. In every other house we've sold, we've always had an offer the first day and this house: none.

Sunday started as normal and we went about our business and I told Lisa that the market is slowing so don't expect it to sell like the others. Then about 12 noon, it busted wide open and the offers started coming in fast and furious.

First offer was 10k under (which really pissed us off bigtime), and the next offer that came in 20 minutes later was 5k over asking and it went up from there.

Latest offer is 15k over asking price and that offer is VA backed (can be a pain in the ass, but we have a newer house), and the offer before that one was an all cash offer 12k over asking price with no inspections or appraisals and closing in 20 days or less (as soon as the title search is complete).

Can you guess which one we're going with? 😁

If I was a lib I'd be stomping my feet and screeching some vulgarities while thinking of ways to shame you into revealing your buyer.....but I'm not, so I won't, but am happy you got a bonus with your sale.
