Speedhut speed box vss to mechanical

Never used one like this. I have Dakota Digital Gauges installed and run their DD GPS box specific for their system. I would highly recommend DD gauges. They have great expansion accessories.

I haven't bought DD yet, but will when I build out my '67. From all I've read and heard from others they are phenomenal.

Since my car is kinda what I consider a "beater" looks good from far little rougher when close I think the DD will be overkill, that is why I am liking the idea of just using the Holley hand held for sensor readings and then my good old mechanical speedo (turned by a GPS motor) haha. We will see, thanks guys.

You know, a car is meant to be driven, and while some see it as something that's cherished and should be protected, myself, it's just a car and it provides enjoyment, so for me whatever condition it's in is fine with me (as long as it's not a death trap).

I'm going to finish the brakes on the Starfire, put the new exhaust on it and let my brother and his wife enjoy it while I'm working on my new place.

After the new shop is up, I'll do all the bodywork on it and put a new paint job on it and sell it.

For me, it's the journey of fixing it and that's where I get my most enjoyment.

Yep! I am with you. The cougar will be my daily driver and right now I am doing brakes and some maintenance on that so I have been driving the el camino since I finished the LS swap. Other than the damn gas prices I love it! I find no need for a new car. As long as I can work on them I will keep driving my old beaters!

Anyone have any experience with these? I just did my LS swap and thought it would be cool to have the mechanical speedo working. Not sure if it is worth 400 dollars though!

I missed this post earlier. I have a Cable-X box that I paid over $300 for. It was going to be used on a 6 speed T56 in my 68 Camaro.
If you want it, how about $225 ?

That's a very fair deal. Me, I gave up on the speedo in the '66 with T56. The only time I want a speedo is out of state highway travel, then I just use my phone.

Hey, I apprecaite the offer and I agree fair one thing though is I have to run a wire to it from VSS right, as opposed to speed hut has a gps right?

Yes, it connects to the electronic speed sensor and has a mech output for the speedometer.
It has a short mech cable so it mounts under the dash near the speedometer and the wire runs back to the transmission.

Just out of curiousity since I am so lazy, is there a way to tap into the Holley harness near the brain or do i have to run a new wire up from the trans.
